Idek but before I made the topic I remembered someone got ripto'ed for something to do with them so I had an "oh Shiite" moment

ROMs are basically pirated games and are for the most part illegal.

Not all ROMs are illegal. Only those that utilize copyrighted information without the permission of the original copyright holder... which is generally the types of ROMs everyone wants anyway.

You can discuss ROM's and Emulators. That's perfectly legal. You're not going to break a rule if you post

"yeah, I play Melee on the Dolphin emulator"

Discussing the distribution of ROM's via download/torrenting will get you ripto'd (assuming you mention that you pirated the game). Distributing and discussing where you obtained the ROM or ISO will get you ripto'd.
