Don't Switch

Just finished Sunscraper Spire where I went all the way through with the same Skylander (EE Stealth Elf) and Kaos. But when I got to the end I didn't have the tick for Don't Switch. I'm sure on other chapters I got a tick even though I switched between villain and Skylander, but this time I didn't. Anyone else had this? Does it mean I need to go through without switching from a Skylander to a villain and back again?

Maybe it's a glitch (I heard somewhere there was one ou two in this game smilie smilie),
or maybe the game considered that your team was too cheated to reward you smilie

That's odd. I got a tick when I used Knight Light and Kaos.

Oh Actvision, what shall you do when your cash cow is milked dry. If your immediate answer isn't "Rerelease Call of Duty of course!", you have let us down.

The don't switch is glitchy as heck. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Doesn't matter which chapter. Do it again and likely as not it will register the next time.

Yeah some of the levels are glitched, sometimes counting the villains and sometimes not.

With some of the glitches like that I've come across in this game , if you complete some other objectives and level as a portal master or something it sometimes fixes it for when you play through the level again .

It doesn't help that there's not a "don't switch" explanation. Maybe it meant don't switch to villains at one point in the development. And it wasn't completely updated on all the programming scripts before release .

I mean it wouldn't have been hard to write " don't switch skylanders" or "don't switch to villains".
So I really don't think they new what they wanted originally.

That's exactly what I did to avoid switching Skylanders and trapped Villains.

Did your skylander come of the portal and you have to put it back on? Even if you put the same lander back, I think it still counts as switching.

Let me guess, do you have PS3 kaosmumishot?

If so, you are probably experiencing inconsistent dont switch awards. I have gotten it credited for times I did switch and I have not gotten it on times where I had a villain in my trap but never used it.

The only way I can 100% get that tick mark award is to not have a villain in my trap period. It seems to not work consistently with PS3 users from what I have read in some past forum topics.

Skylander never came off the portal. It's still in the box, nice and stable. And I'm actually on a xBox360. It's odd I have got the Don't Switch tick on other chapters using both Skylanders and Villains. Just wondering if this expansion pack is different.

I haven't noticed that yet. is it only only the expansion/adventure packs?

I had a zone where I switched prior to fighting Kaos in chapter 18, easily, but I did not switch during the battle against him and I got credit for no switching.

Have had zones where I only switched to the villain I brought with me into the zone and I did not get credit, once I only trapped a villain once and then switched back to my skylander and never used it again and did not get the credit.

The don't switch thing is messed up at least for the PS3.

Good to know. I'll post back my findings on specific levels on my PS3.

I absolutely hate this challenge... I had to replay levels MANY times just to beat that one objective. It doesn't even let me know if I shouldn't switch villains or Skylanders, or both. And sometimes it's really glitchy for me because when I made played Sunscraper Spire with just Knight Light, I quickly put in the light trap (Luminous) so I wouldn't die, and I ended up getting the check. BUT when I went to replay the Golden Desert, I kept Knight Light and Luminous without switching anyone, and it never gave me the check at the end. Also on the last level (The Ultimate Weapon), I switched many Skylanders during the level section and repeatedly switched to Kaos when I fought the final boss, it ended up giving me the check anyway...

Now, I'm just not going to use villains whenever I try to complete this goal.

Have you ever tried using one of Eon's Elite Skylander figures while completing the fourth-star quests, including "Don't Switch"?

Btw, when I beat story mode and the difficult star I checked each chapter by starting it. If you go and check the objectives, in many cases I've already had the star and it awarded it to me. I then exited back to the academy. I had probably 1/2 of my difficult stars played through the first time. Just sayin', it doesn't hurt to check objectives when you start the level... (in many cases I had to play through a second time because of missed items (and I didn't have to deal with elemental gates)...
