...I just read in another forum that there are four Light and Dark (each) villains but only three traps for each of these elements.
That means buying a duplicate trap in these two elements to fill in these spots.
Given that I will own traps in other elements which will not store a baddie as there are less villains than traps for other elements, this "grinds my gears", so to speak.
Yeah, yeah, I know that nobody is forcing me to fill in the slots or buy dupe traps, but my point is still valid...

Why bother with four traps? The villains evolved in the same trap will actually stay that way no matter the save file(evolved Broccoli Guy in my x360,went to play on a friend's console, had to explain them why the heck was he white when we captured him even if someone else was on it). Evolve everyone in the mold you like the most for them, and switch 'em around if you feel the need to. It's a really weird move to have less traps than villains but it feels like TFB did the trap organization with the Villain Vault in mind and not the molds themselves.

There's no amount of spin that can save them here. If one wants to collect all of the baddies and store one per trap--yes not economic, but let's say they want "recognition" for each item in the game file, then there are elements with too many molds, some not enough. Up to this game everything was engineered very specifically in multiples of eight...now we have too many traps, not enough traps, fewer light/dark cores/trap masters than other elements, three elements with no reposes etc...it feels VERY MUCH contrary to how they made inventory counts before.
I know there's a method to the madness here, but I don't think we'll ever know what it is...it just feels very much "off".

<Sesame Street Count voice> One dollar... Two dollar... Three dollar... </Sesame Street Count voice> But seriously, I profess to being a tad OCD on having things equal (example: when I go to buffet and get two of each mini-marshmallow on my soft serve ice cream - no more, no less. It drives my kids up the wall!) I thing is boils down to the marketing "arm" trying to make as much as possible but the creative arm running of out ideas to derive designs to balance it all out. Back to the OP, would it have killed them to choose a 4th trap design for these two elements?

This so much. They already have multiple molds being used for different elements. Would it really have killed them to add ONE more to both light and dark???

Maybe they could make skylanders pop up pirate (kaos) and instead of swords you could use the traps.

I understand the lack of reposes. I'm guessing there are only 5 due to lack of good ideas for figures and/or marketing data showing 5 was all the market was going to take. As it stands, I only went with 3 of them this time as reposes get no PT at my house, especially if the original wasn't a family favorite. I did like the figure itself though.
I even get having extra traps. They are surely cheap to make a new mold for, and the packaging is the same. I don't see why they didn't make enough traps though. Where are we getting this 3 traps data from? Is it definite? Personally doesn't bother me. We don't care about having unique traps or collecting each type. We got all our traps from wave 1. |
