She came in to my department asking for where the Skylanders are.

I went ahead and asked her if she needed anything else.

Her response: "Well I don't know which one my Son wants or has."

So I went ahead and asked her which console her kid has...and I got this response

"I don't know. Do I need one? This is like a mothers worst nightmare trying to hunt these down."

So I went ahead and explained to her what the Skylanders actually were and let her know that she did indeed need a console or iPad to play the game.

She told me she would find out what console her kid has.

So then she asked "can you actually do me a favor and help me find what I need?"

And I kind of froze up for a second in shock, tbh. So I replied with "Yeah, which ones are your kid looking for?"

She pulled out the most crumpled up piece of paper known to man and with the most crappy hand writing showed me a list of the names...:

There were from what I remember: Goldshooter, some eagle one, and something I couldn't read.

At this point I decided to help her search through the selection and bin, but we didn't come to find what she wanted

She started getting really angry at me and told me that it was a nightmare for her to find these

During all of this, I had another customer wanting to purchase a TV...great.

I went ahead and paged for my manager over the intercom to come to my location and had him and I try our best to explain to her that we couldn't really help her find what she wanted because she had absolutely no idea what she actually needed.

All in all, kids, please, please tell your parents what version you have. Give them accurate names to remember because holy Christ this must have been the third or fourth time this has happened.

I ****ing hate Skylanders lmao

----

Some eighth graders also had me do math problems on the spot because I mentioned I went to a community college where one of their mothers teach lmao.

I rekt those kids.

I also work at a really not-busy location where a bunch of old ladies shop.

We also sold out of Persona Q, kek.

---

I don't know why I wrote this all out I guess I'm exhausted and angry and my feet hurt and I wanna sleep ahdibsish

Also this one customer was pissed that we didn't have some old western CD...da***

I sold 2 smash brothers copies todat
WiiU sells like ****ing ****
PS4 sells amazingly well
Xbone is meh.

I unpacked a **** load of Xbox One's today.

The ps4's are gonna sell like crazy on Friday ;---;

FML sorry for sharing my work day D:

I remember when I was hunting down skylanders I'd just call the store. They never had what I wanted and they all thought I was a woman.

That kid's kind of a jerk to his mom though. And the mom wasn't too bright to use a list of stuff that had her kid's crappy handwriting tbh. Not to be mean but still that's just not right....

The game is for 6+, so it isn't as bad. If it was made for like high schoolers then we'd have a problem here.

Hint: It's very similar to Target and Wal-Mart.
Hint: It's really huge in Oregon, and partially Washington.
Hint: It's Wal-Mart's biggest competitor.

I don't feel comfortable saying it out loud but if someone can guess where I work then I'll say it lol.
Oh and trust me there are plenty of adults who biyt the Skylanders.

Best I can think of is Costco where you work. Though isn't that more common on the east coast?

EDIT: Ninja'd. BJ's?

When making the lists (including my brother's) for my father, I tend to list the item, list what system it's for (or where to get it if it's not a game) and include a photo of the item. It saves time and makes it easier.

When I would do Skylanders on my Christmas list I made sure to have the character's actual name and what game it is from, if an adventure of Battle pack, I listed the name of every piece in that set. That kid must seriously not want anything for Christmas with that kind of a list.

Besides that, whenever I ask for video-games I always list the system for it.

Guessing Goldshooter was Trigger Happy, and the Eagle one being Jetvac. Although it is pretty sucky that you had a rough day, at least in the end if you ever see a parent buying a M rated game for their kid you can tell them that you don't recommend it for small children. (Which I see so often that it isn't even funny)

More like idiotic mom, GTA V is M rated (aka 17+). The ESRB ratings exist for a reason, it is just that people don't read boxes. Also I wonder how long it was till that kid's mom saw what her kid was doing in GTA V.

I grew up in a super religious Christian household.

My parents sheltered me pretty hardcore but they knew enough to know that I wasn't going to become a devil worshiper by playing Devil May Cry and GTA on the PS2. I was playing Turok on the N64, and Tomb Raider on the PS1. Resident Evil was always in the PS1.

It had absolutely no bad affect on me. Hell, I feel bad for you now. You missed out on some good games.

My point is that a lot of people that go "oh wow bad parents letting their kid play CoD these games are rated M" were often playing rated M games themselves at that same age. They simply don't want kids yelling into the mic when they're playing.

I owned my first M game at 12. Most kids I know did, and sometimes even started younger.

I think the issue between the mother and the child situation is that someone didn't really do a lot of research to help the mother out find the correct skylanders. Basically a communication problem.

Like the list says gold shooter (Most likely Trigger Happy), and eagle guy (most likely Jet Vac).

Now with the research done on them, it would made things a little to a lot easier.

That and sounded like the mom never really got her boy a Skylander game before. Or asked a lot about them so she can surprise her kid like such. But I do feel bad for her, since Skylanders can be nightmare to get in stores even with research done. Thanks to sales, and other crazed parents.

Okay, I just had a Deja Vu with Windump's rants on ratings.

So, I'm just going to quote my old post from the last time this happened.

Quote:
I'll just point out what I think about it:

The ratings on games and movies are nothing but recommendations on what age one should play with such game, but it isn't a strict law that they can't be sold to kids under that age, as some kids grow mentally earlier than others do.

Society today seems to develop a lot faster than it used to, meaning that they aren't really that bothered by violence or death when they're young anymore. So to my fullest opinion, if the kid is allowed, is aware of what he's really playing, and won't mentally go wrong by playing it, then he's free to play it.
