What are the point in Trap Masters? I still do not get the whole concept.

They help you more in boss fights. They also break Traptainiom.

Whats the point in breaking Traptainiom?

They unlock secret areas that contain treasure chests, winged sapphires, and even villains.

They generate more income for Activision

But do you need them to trap villains?

Not exactly, both normal Skylanders and Trap Masters can defeat the villains for you to trap them.

they do more damage to villains, but are not required to trap them.

They simplify the one word in Activision's arsenal, post SSA,.......gimmick. Just like the variants, which sucker us in to spend more.

As you can see, the Trap Masters play very important roles in STT as the Giants in SG and the Swap Force in SSF. So far, the only Trap Masters I like are as followed:

Snap Shot
Enigma
Gearshift
Wallop
Bushwhack
Tuff Luck
Krypt King
Short Cut

Man, was that a case of major assumption or what? Took the bait, like a good poster.

Let me know if you can get your figures free. None of the figures actually HAVE a point. You pay for the figure, you can play them in game, and I guess you can put them on the ever crowded figure shelf that I amuse myself that others are constantly revamping, but at the end of the day, they DO IN FACT cost money--utility be known or not.

Also, I have heard that Krypt King has bullied other portal masters for their lunch money.

The same point that every other gimmick characters has had in this franchise: unlock more content in-game.

Oh, and also let you play as another Skylander that you may or may not like, which happens to be the main focus of the series, but apparently, no one no longer cares about.

And don't forget the fact that they changed every elemental gate into Traptanium gates so you need one Trap Master of each element.

So do like I am going to do...

Buy 1 and only one of each element in a trap master, and use all of your older characters/figures/toys in the rest of the game..

Its seems to be working out just fine for me at the moment.. I only have 3 to collect, Life, Magic, and Earth, and of course the light and dark elements if and when Activision ever officially release them....

I'm doing this, well the second part at least.

Have two Trap Masters so far - Krypt King and Snap Shot.

Hey, be nice folks, lol! Some people just buy for their kids, and don't care about all the extra awesome fun, and just want the bare minimum! However I'm strongly against this!

It'd be easier to ignore the rip-off if the gimmick figures were really intriguing. Neither of the water, fire, life, air, or undead Masters interest me in the slightest, and the other three elements only inspire mild excitement.

Remember how only one Giant was needed, and the Swapper movement types only really unlocked mini-games? Yet many of the designs were really fascinating, so we all purchased more than necessary because we "had" to have certain characters. It's flipped now; we have to have one from each element, and if they were really cool, who cares. But they're boring. Fail on multiple levels.

I think it is so shady of them to lock elemental gates and make you pay 16 bucks(a series first!!!) for each trap master.

What is the point?

I don't know anymore. When the roster was ~50, I totally wanted to play certain characters. There's so many of them anymore I guess for the aging portal masters of the series one earth figure is just as good as another one, when you have amassed an army. I would submit for those that cherry pick that will have a have a ring of resonance (to play as a skylander you want).

I no longer submit to the "in game content" mantra. For the figure itself, sure. But the content behind the pay walls NEVER justify the means. Don't have that soul gem because it's behind a paywall? No worries, you won't need it for the next game. What about all of these special things you do in this game? No worry, they'll ditch it for the next game. So, I kinda mean it when I say what's the point? To take your money.

At the end of the day, buy you want. Play with what you love.
