Okay so I want to buy this Japanese imported PS2 game because my friends and I have been wanting it for such a long time. I've done some research, and since I have a US PS2 slim, I need to do some modification to my ps2 in order to play the Japanese game.
I found out that I can buy this nifty little thing called Swap Magic and put some tape on my ps2 sensors and be able to play the game that way. The only thing is, I'm just not entirely sure it will work, and I really don't want to fork away so much money (tight budget lawl).
So I was wondering if any of you out there are familiar with playing imported PS2 games and if you could shed me some light and provide me with help. Much appreciated yo.

I almost did the same thing.

Apparently it works. There should be some YouTube tutorial guides...unfortunately I can't help you myself since I haven't done it.

What game are you trying to play?

And my friends and I have been wanting Soul Eater Battle Resonance for the longest time, but none of us knew how to make imported games work. Thanks for your advice again. smilie

I have wanted an imported PS2 for awhile. DNAngel Crimson Wings & KH Final Mix are main reasons. Almost bought an already modified American one at a con, but was hesitant to fork over the money for it as I was unsure of the whole modding thing with it. Actually ended up buying KH Final Mix at another booth but still can't play it. XP

Only experience I have with an imported game is Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Final Mix, but PSP isn't region locked, so....

Either way, if the modding works out, let me know how it goes.

Yeah, I'm definitely thinking about ordering a Swap Magic as well.
What you do is, you insert the Swap Magic disc (but for some odd reason you have to keep the PS2 lid open) and when Swap Magic loads, you take that disc out and then insert the imported PS2 game, and somehow it magically works. (how the hell does that even work i don't even xD)
Sooo yeah most defs gonna order one. I'll let you know how all that works out. :3
Oh and Seiki, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix will most definitely work if you use Swap Magic, I've heard many people talk about it.
