Having gone through the whole of story mode and having played a couple of Brock’s rumble club challenges and a couple of the Kaos doom challenges. I feel I am not experienced enough to cast my opinion on the game, things that work well and some not so good.
Element Gates & Gimmick Landers
I think there should be areas of the game on the Gimmick Landers should be able to access, but I think it was a very bad idea to make the element gates for Trap Masters only.
In Spyros, Giants and Swap Force, all Slylanders could access the Element gates. In Swap Force, the Swappers had their own special Swap Zone’s. I think the Trap Masters should have had a similar thing rather than having all other skylanders kicked out the Element zones. The Traptanium crystal zones could be better and serve this purpose.
Survival Arenas Vs Brock’s Rumble Club
Well I just feel the rumble club is missing something. In Swap Force there was more level up possibilities in the survival arenas and they were more challenging and more rewarding.
Persephanie Vs The Power Pod
For me the power pod was the better way to upgrade as I find Persephanie quite annoying after a few times. The Power Pod without Gorm would be my preference.
Skystones Vs Skystones Smash
If it isn’t broken don’t fix it. The original Skystones was awesome, don’t get me wrong I like Skystones Smash but I feel the original was better. There does not seem to be as many Skystones in Trap Team like there was in Giants.
Auric’s Shop
So glad to see this return, it was a real miss in Swap Force, still there does not seem to be as much content. In Giants he sold loads of Skystones, Healing Potions etc, they seem to missing this time.
Lock Imp Vs Shock n Bolt.
Shock n Bolt win it for me, not a fan of the Lock Imp. So I am happy at the lock keys being available.
Playable Villains
Love this feature, some of the villains are poor however as they only have two attacks where others have three. Plus I think the Kaos trap should have been in all starter packs, not just the dark edition.
Bonus Mission Maps / Heroic Challenges
So disappointed to see these are missing in Trap Team. In general there is loads less content / replay value in Trap Team than there was in Swap Force. I think once you have unlocked a villains quest, it should be available to access from the Hub for all other villains to have a go at.
Replaying Levels / Collectables
In Swap Force we would have a diamond in place of the already collected item, in Trap Team there is just nothing there. Bad move in my opinion. Plus I think that treasure chests should be re-collectable.
Magic Items / Level Items
Not got the new ones yet, but I think that Tower of Time and Sheepwreck Island should be playable in Trap Team, just like how the first four where playable in Giants.
Unhappy they have made the Sky Diamond next to useless either.
Two Player Mode / PVP
Not had change to experience this yet as I am playing Trap Team on PS4 and only have one controller for now. Hope however they have brought back Sky Goals and Sky Gems. Any news on two player PVP would be appreciated.
So far, I think Swap Force was better than Trap Team for content, however Trap Team has better Skylanders overall. Hope to see loads more replay value in Skylanders 5.
This is all I can think of for now. Please don’t shoot me down, its just my opinion, yours may well differ.
