my TRU had 5 of them, i got 1, but i noticed something weird, all 5 of them had their barcodes cut off. i thought that the TRU employees couldn't sell it, so i ran to the register, saying, can i buy this?
:me: can i buy this?
:guy: huh, *mumbles* barcode...
:lady: huh, what's up?
:guy: the barcode is missing
:lady: *she looks at it* we didn't do this, someone must've cut it off.
:guy: *smiles* this is the same price as this? *looking at my L deja vu*
:lady: uh-huh... they did this because it was limited edition right?
:me: yea
:lady: you sure?
:me: yea, i think so....
:lady: then that's why...
:guy: *scans L deja vu again*
:me: thanks

sorry for the massive dialogue, i was wondering that anyone else experienced this. with my experience, i thought they would say, "we can't sell this" but they did, which i like. :3 she said it was special, and that someone cut it off to buy it, which i could understand...

Mine had 6 of them, all with barcodes blacked out.. Manager in rzone said they were for a promotion that ended, and said I could have them all since they couldn't officially sell them! I was pretty happy and thanked them!

you could get it by showing the people in R-zone (TRU's electronics) a photo of him on instagram. I got one.

They gave them away a while back. Most either had the bar codes blacked out or cut out. I'm surprised they still had any. Obviously, they didn't understand the promo so they just put them out on the pegs. They weren't supposed to sell it to you. They were supposed to just give it to you for free.

The toys r us here has pegs full of them I never noticed the bar code but I bought them there before without an issue

Just went back to TRU today after reading this, all they had were the metallic green gill grunts. :/
