If you place a mini like trigger snappy in swap force will it say sidekick or will it say this wouldn't work in this game (I don't have trap team yet)

Yes it works, I tested it with Mini Jini, it however doesn't add the mini to your collection.

Because the concept of minis are not in Swap Force. and only the 8 minis that were available during SSA and SG will even be recognized.

Actually, 8 of the minis are in Swap Force, just not as playable characters. The game will recognize them and unlock them, but only in the magic items portion of your collection, not in the character unlock screens.

Actually, 8 of the minis are in Swap Force, just not as playable characters. The game will recognize them and unlock them, but only in the magic items portion of your collection, not in the character unlock screens.

It won't unlock them in the magic portion of it, at least in Swap Force.

It did in mine, I have the 8 character headshots showing in my magic item list. You actively have to go to the list, but you'll see the older magic items, sidekicks, etc., all listed as magic items. It doesn't increase your Skylanders count but is part of the overall collection screens.

So you tried this with a Red Base of Eye-Small or Barkley and it registered under the Magic items in Swap Force? What version did you try this on? I tried this on PS4. All it did was it let me use them. It wouldn't unlock the Sidekick for having a Sidekick as it wouldn't register them under the magic items. Are you sure you are not talking about the Orange Base ones?

^ That's exactly what I meant, I knew it wouldn't register as a skylander but why not magic item? I use Wii U.

I am/was talking about the green and orange based ones, as the original post didn't specify which version was being used. Since I've already got the original 8 as part of my Swap Force collection, I'll have to go home, create a new save/profile on SwapForce, grab the red based ones and see. Those may well not unlock anything, although I can't imagine why since the data on both figures should be identical save if there is some designation for which game the character came from.

I've never gone back to do it, but is there any similar issue with series 2/3/4/lightcore characters not actually adding to the character collection when used in older games that they're compatible with but that they didn't originate from? I always use my old characters going forward and not backward and haven't ever heard anyone ask about this specific situation, so I honestly don't know.

The reposes come up as S2 Special or similar, for example pink trigger happy in Giants.

In Giants it only let you add one of each special. Haven't tried TT reposes in SF yet.
