Welcome back to:
So in the last edition, based on the health bars, SWAP Force won. I think the reason SWAP Force won was because it's 3D characters looked very good on most of the Skylanders. Now, we will be taking a look at the upgrade design. As you can see here in the pictures provided by Dark52, there is a significant difference in the style of them.
Like many other things in Trap Team, they were taken from Giants or Spyro's Adventure because Toys For Bob made it.
This time around, you will not be voting on this topic, but you can have a discussion in the topic. I have made a straw poll to go vote which one you like more.
Vote!

The SF ones just kept reusing the same picture, just with white flashers here and there. You would think they would use diffrent pictures, but I guess they thought nobody would notice. Trap team

Definitely TFB best upgrade designs. I didn't hate VV's designs for upgrades, but they flat out just recycled or flipped the images of the upgrades and put super minor differences in them.

Definitely Trap Team.
The SWAP Force ones were really disappointing, with the same pictures being used for three or more upgrades.

By any chance, were the Greebles seen in the upgrade pics replaced by different enemies like trolls or cyclopses? Also, the Chompies used in them changed from their Swap Force versions back to their original forms in Trap Team.

I'm going to get a little off topic here, but in response to your post, TSD, I bet that Chompies in Sky5 will be the ones from Swap Force. TfB and VV don't seem to like each other creatively speaking.

As negative as I am on TT, I must admit they did things right in this area. Unfortunately, this won't make the game any better.

It really doesn't need to be any better, in my opinion. And I REALLY hope V.V. keeps the style of TfB, for Skylanders 5, this time.

VV's style stands on its own, and is a refreshing change. I particularly love the chompy re-design. What they NEED to do is collaborate on character stats and lock em down.

And decide a single phisic engine. And decide a single graphic engine. And maybe decide a single style, because, they can change the gameplay, from title to title, but really, they need to stick with a single style, from now on.

Economies of scale comes to mind. Problem is someone has to "win" and "lose", and developers are proud.

Yes, I understand that, but they also should understand that alternating two quite different game "versions" of the same series every two years is going to confuse the customers, and eventually become annoying. That would be a little worse, than "winning" or "losing" their competition, I think.

If the next skylanders game is anything like SF, I'm just going to skip it. Sf was WAY to long, they weren't very creative levels, and before I got it, I got every Skylander to gold level in giants, only for them to say: "HEY! Good work! You get a tiny little icon in the bottom right corner! Now do some more hard quests for 100ish Skylanders! While we're at ait, lets Nerf all the old ones, so using them is pointless!" Plus they weren't creative enough to even use different artworks for the upgrades, the either added some white lines,, on *gasp* Flipped it! Yup, they were so daring, that they thought they could risk flipping it. Daring, right? Didn't notice a difference in physics between any of the games, can someone explain what the difference is?

1. Trap Team for me!
2. Imagine VV doing skylanders to level 100 or 50 o_o 3. If they make Sky 5 like swap force on the wii i will be so disappointed.

Well, SF physic engine allowed the fights to be more "realistic", with more knockbacks and more "solid" (don't know how to call them, otherwise) enemies. Don't really miss it, but it was a nice addiction. Quote: Luminous35
Don't worry, SF on the Wii was the only really bad version of that game (due to the inexperience of Beenox mixed with the "limits" of that console). On the other platforms SF was a really cool game, the graphics were outstanding (even if they lacked variety), and it was a huge leap, from Giants. It just feels really different from the previous titles, and in general from what a TfB Skylanders game (which is the definition of a Skylanders game itself) is.

Right, not saying it doesn't make sense--just the realities of the situation. Since I'm not Hirshberg, and you aren't Hirshberg, this pontification is just meaningless.

Not specific ones, but after SWAP Force was released, Activision said that wanted both V.V. and TfB to work on the Skylanders game, having 2 years at disposal, instead of one, and thus releasing the titles elternate trought the years.
