Black Thursday and the massive capitalistic greed of corporations have forced Christmas on us as early as mid-September. Kmart thinks they're clever and funny when they make a Not a Christmas advertisement (look at the date posted) that's just a backhanded way of advertising for holiday layaway, but all it does is show us just how much time this damn holiday has sucked up.

Don't get me wrong. I love Christmas. It's my favorite holiday of the year and I'm always in the spirit once the time is right. And I like sales too. But Black Thursday has done so much damage to the image of Christmas and the holidays that sometimes it can be a little difficult to get into the spirit when stores like Walmart and Best Buy are demanding I am. And they do all of this with little to no consideration of Thanksgiving and how their employees may want to celebrate Thanksgiving dinner with their family, demanding that they come into work as early as 8 PM on Thursday (hence the name I give it).

And it's not the fault of the concept. The concept is fine, if not fantastic. It's the attitude corporations and retailers have gotten with it, and in such recent time. I remember when I was younger and we didn't constantly have to hear about stores opening so early (the earliest I would hear a store opening would be 5 AM on Friday). It's just so quickly grown and devoured the day before and even stretches as far as before Halloween, where we're searching for costumes and instead get a face full of Christmas trees, lights, and advertisements for advertisements of sales.

I don't like what Black Thursday has become and what it has done to the holidays that come before it. I like the concept, and I adore Christmas. But I don't like being hammered over the head everywhere I go to get into the "Christmas spirit" this early when it's really just telling me to trample over people on the 27th to buy ****.

I think Black Friday is really hypocritical.

Remember that one walmart employee a few years ago that was trampled to death on Black Friday?

Yeah. That's when I started hating it.
I still go, but I'm not a hardcore shopper or anything. Really it's just something I do to pass the time. I don't even want to think about Christmas the day after thanksgiving.

^That's pretty much where my hate started too. I also began to hate Walmart from there.

And I've only ever gone to a store on Black Friday once (last year). I'm more likely to stay home and spend the day as normal, with an occasional glance at online sales.

TV's are 50% off where I work at on Black Friday. We also happen to be a smaller version of Wal-Mart (but we're not Wal-Mart) store where most of the people shop at the bigger one a few miles down the road. We're really not expecting a lot of people, at all.

We sell 4K TV's, employee's are getting them super cheap because essentially we get them for 70% due to employee discount.

I own a 51 inch TV that outputs a refresh rate of 120hz at 1080p.

I would buy one if I didn't buy a TV last year.

Yeah, Kmart's "not a Christmas commercial" thing is stupid. It's obviously a Christmas commercial, don't try to hide it >.>

Also, I can say with certainty I will not be going to the store for Black Friday. I went to Walmart last year just to check it out and see what kind of sales they were having. Around 8PM, the store suddenly became so crowded and packed with people that I actually struggled to get out of there. People on the left, people on the right, people in front of me. Needless to say, I made it out alive.
