Were these numbers only for a week? When do they update them? They look extremely horrible. Roughly 250k units worldwide. My math could be wrong.

Discuss. Could this be why shipping has "slowed"?

hmmm interesting numbers, i won't pretend to understand what is good or bad when it comes to sales figures. i'm guessing that they are low, which is different that i'd expected, judging by how release went at the stores near me.

speaking to the managers at Jbhifi, ebgames and Target in my local shopping centre while i was getting some DI disc packs yesterday, Skylanders has already been restocked twice, whilst all of their DI2.0 sections are still on the same shipment they got on release, and there is no lack of a variety of characters.
people are really going nuts for the traps, at least here anyway, and thats paying $7 each, not the ridiculous buy 1 get 1 for $1 sale (yes that is a tone of jealousy in my voice/typing)

I see that at my TRU, while Infinity looks just the same...overstock on both 1.0 and 2.0, with a spot reserved for Amiibo, which I think will be Skylanders' biggest challenger. Especially with the vast knowledge Nintendo has, plus how big their games sell.
I think Nintendo's entry into the Toys-to-life gaming battle will combine aspects of both Infinity and Skylanders. Iconic brand characters, but distinct worlds where all their characters will interact.

Granted I don't know for how long these numbers represent. The proof in the pudding will be the numbers finalized after holiday shopping. I seem to recall higher numbers after the first month last year. So--anyone that knows how these numbers are calculated/represented is a good first step.

From my perspective, it's been relatively sedate. The traps really are the hit this year based on "activity".

I'd like to think that I am a normal dad of two big fans of this series. This year I did not wait until the holiday rush to start collecting. For SSf I foolishly went out on thanksgiving night to try and get the starter pack from Walmart on the Black Friday deal. There were a whopping 4 there for my system. Did not even get close enough to see the cover art. Little by little, I have collected the starter pack, most of wave 1, some of wave 2. And it's not a mad scramble in December. Should have done this in prior years.

Their methodology is posted here: http://www.vgchartz.com/methodology.php

Personally, I can't put too much stock in those estimates based on the methodology.
- The sales estimates are for the game only, none of the figures, traps, and other accessories.
- They don't state a margin of error.
- They poll directly from consumers, which I would guess are more likely to be hard core gamers then casual players I would guess. Skylanders would be negatively represented there.
- They poll from some retailers, but they don't list those retailers. I've they're retailers are Gamestop and other primarily VG stores, again Skylanders would be negatively represented. Heck, TRU itself probably represented half the sales. If they aren't included, heavily skewed numbers would result.
- They say they get some numbers from manufacturers, but Activision is unlikely to give out sales numbers at this point. It would not be good business.
- They take info from all these sources and combine them with some secret formulas. I don't trust that at all.

In contrast sales number for movie theatres are taken from a much simpler method. I used to work at a movie theatre (two actually) when I was a teenager. Every night, the sales numbers for each movie is collected by an independent agency. I don't know if every theatre is polled, but certainly a statistically significant number. I would think there would be much less bias in the source as well, since movie theatres typically aren't geared to a specific demographic (except for local dempgraphics perhaps). I would trust the numbers you see on movie sales much more than video games.

I'm not saying the eyeball test at your local TRU is more reliable. We probably will need to wait till Activision announces sales figures themselves to be sure. There will be some spin, but they have to report accurately to investors.

Cool thanks for info. Yes I knew that it doesn't include toy and figures...just like the movie polling method I'm estimating interest based on starter packs sold.

When is next quarter for Activision?

this is a joke, no x360,ps3 or old wii???.... all these consoles have more sold and more users than xb1,ps4,wiiu... its like they have cut out over the half user base for games. that list is irrelevant to today's marked.
