i was playing trap team, and my trap portal is near my swap force one, which isn't plugged in, dark s3 spyro was on it. (spyro was in the middle of the SF portal) when it said "player one, choose a skylander" i was looking for food fight, than i see spyro on my screen.
can someone explain?

This effect is well documented. People were using it to play triple packs without opening them. The field from one portal piggybacks off the unpowered loop in a very nearby portal and extends the range.

Yeah, I saw this in spyros adv years ago and thought it was cool!!

I thought about doing this to transfer hats,two versions running at the same time,portal TT nothing on it and portal giants with a skylander on it then keep changing hats on giants and see if TT portal notices the change.

Wouldn't work. The only way the linking of portals work is if the additional portal(s) isn't powered on. When you turn it on, the first portal freaks out.

I remember back in giants my giants would only dimly light up, but once i stacked a 3ds portal on top of it and put the giant at the top of the tower they would light up brightly and id still be able to play with them. Kinda neat

Yup put 5 together to make all light cores in our collection light up. Had two powered by the consoles and the other three "fed" off their energy per se.
