I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty frustrated seeing Jet Vac, Gill Grunt and Pop Fizz each getting another series upgrade, when there are so many that could use it more.
Honestly, I think the ones that should have gotten the series upgrade are part of a forgotten bunch...the Inglorious B******* of Skylands. To the new, you may/may not have heard of them. But to us, veteran Portal Masters, they're as revered as any of the others. One member has his user name as part of his web page.
They are The Forgotten 8...;
However it's 7 since Camo got his S2 upgrade in SF.
Yet, there are these seven that have been ignored for years (other than Warnado and Wham Shell getting Lightcore versions last year).
In my honest opinion, these gallant few deserved a series upgrade for Skylanders 5:
Boomer, Dino-Rang, Sunburn, Voodood, Warnado, Wham Shell and, last but not least,.........Ghost Roaster.
Many, in the past, have been upgraded to at least a S2. Camo got that honor last year.
Yet the seven mentioned above have not, and I can't believe that seven of the original 32 from Spyro's Adventure have been left behind with no hope of gaining a new power.
TFB & Activision, how could you? Seriously?
Is there any plans to upgrade these 7 in future Skylanders titles?
I hope so, because otherwise they're truly forgotten and that's a shame.

I agree with all the things you said, I too think they are pushing the reposes idea waaaay too far.

But my "Forgotten 7" will NEVER be forgotten.
I will always play them in every new game, just like the other Skylanders.

New figures doesn't mean more respect. smilie

As I mentioned on my old topic about people's reactions to the amount of reposes, I'm neutral but surprised by the low number of reposes with only 4 Skylanders (1 S4, 1 S3, and 2 S2s). I was kinda expecting a S4 Spyro, or Whirlwind, or Cynder, but I'm content that Spyro and Whirlwind both have a new sidekick version and Eon's Elite version. We may not have gotten Spyro, or Cynder, or Whirlwind this year (which I've seen some overreacting responses that Spyro "is dropped from Skylanders" all because he wasn't reposed), but at least we're getting some kind of new versions of them right?

So funny that they make a ton of reposes I guess noone really wants anymore (S4 GG... yeah, he looks cool, but I highly doubt you cannot find S1, S2 or S3 if you want him...), then they refuse to make reposes who should sell extremely well, because they are rare as hell and expensive in secondhand market. I just don't get it... don't get me wrong, I'm ok with reposes, I just don't like how they are selected.

Thanks, Drek95. I know my fellow Portal Masters won't, but it seems that TFB,VV and Activision have.
New figures are welcome, but if it weren't for the original 32 there would be no SG, SSF, or STT.
they need to be more focused on gameplay and storyline to keep us hooked. Otherwise, they'll lose customers.
I'm 58% done of the main story of TT, finished MoM, nearly finished with NE and one more Arena Challenge. The only thing that frustrates me with TT is the lack of commitment. Last year, it was mentioned that SF and future titles would have staggered releases so there would not be long dry periods before products were released.
So what did they do? Go back to the waves, releasing a bunch of stuff one Day 1. TRU announces early release of Wave 2 two days after launch. Then everyone else got wave 2 a week after launch.
Really?
What about Mirror of Mystery? Biggest sham of the game. TRU didn't have it, nor did Target, Gamestop or Walmart.
Best Buy did, and I bloody had to ask them to check in back after finding the Best Buy I was in had them.
The game's great, but the way releases are being handled....SUCKS!!! I wonder how long it took for Australia and New Zealand to get Wave 2 when they were the first ones to get the game. UK got the MoM before I even found it.
And don't get me started on the latest Frito-Lay contest. Can't even win on the phone, let alone find bags to use the app to try that way to win.
And the end of the story? No lead-in to Skylanders 5? Now I know how soda feels like after sitting for a while......flat.

They did the same with SSA and SF. And low and behold, more sequels.

You seem to have way too many scattered complaints about the game. Just relax and enjoy the hunt. Why do you care so much about what happened with the releases in Australia and New Zealand and the UK? Distribution and release will vary depending on where you are in the world...quite honestly, I believe the US has the most generous early access to releases and there is way too much product out on the shelves and hooks at TRU stores for what is a franchise on the decline. Many countries have had shops stop ordering Skylanders now that the big craze is over. If you are that invested in the game, feel free to invest in purchasing figures from foreign websites to get things early...many members here purchased from Amazon's foreign websites in Germany and other countries around December of last year to hopefully get a few figures unreleased in the US before Christmas. Otherwise, just wait patiently knowing that supply and stock will be somewhat decent about 3-4 weeks following the first US sighting of a figure. I was able to get every single Swap a Force figure release including all in-game variants with ease last year. The only time I had to turn to Amazon to purchase was for Fire Bone Hot Dog and I started a thread on these forums to inform others that it was available at the time for $9.99 while scarce in stores.

I must confess I don't think this is true.

Correction: New Zealand got Trap Team on the 8th as oposed to the 1st like Australia. Speaking as someone in the southernmost part of the world it does bother me a little about getting waves weeks or months after the US, but that's really just basic proximity, and Activision is a US based company. Now what does make me cringe a little is people complaining about Wave 3 when we haven't even seen Wave 2 down here, but eh, no big deal.

As for the reposes, well, isn't it based on popularity more than need?

That's it, proximity - because we all know wave 2 has been on a slow boat from the states for the last few weeks and will arrive down under just before Christmas.

Because boats really do take months and months to get here. /sarc

And this mindset is what creates a positive feedback loop. They go around and around, reposing what's popular, then that gives them the incentive to repose them again next game, keeping them new and popular. Furthering the neglect for other characters.

Sad but true, ideally I'd love to see no more than one, maybe two reposes for any given character, does Gill Grunt really need three reposes and a mini?
I would have loved to have seen a repose for Sunburn or Pop Thorn. As it is I don't mind the move away from reposes, least of all ones who've been in every game thus far (Again, hi Gill Grunt!)

Not much you could do on Pop Thorn unless you made one with him deflated though. Kind of like Wrecking Ball, a ball with little stubby feet doesn't have many posing options.

I still have a theory though that they are holding back on three reposes (Earth, Tech and Undead) for early next year. It's weird that they skipped three elements like that - and had all the reposes out right away.

But, then again, maybe they like the idea of having a few characters that are uncommon. We already have like 128 + villains as playable options, if a few of those aren't really common then it isn't a huge deal. Maybe like a reward for people that got in on the ground floor.
