It's actually more a Star Trek reference for the mirror universe Kirk & co. go to at some point. Other fandoms have experimented a bit with it themselves i.e. Transformers with its Shattered Glass universe.

They should have given all the occupants of the mirror universe goatees like Star Trek did. It would have been a great joke for the geek parents.

Should have more characters to deal with than just Flynn and Persephone. Would have loved seeing a mirror version of Tessa and Cali, maybe Hugo.

I think Hugo would toss evil sheep at the skylanders to attack, and Cali could just be totally in love with Flynn riding on the back of the air motorcycle thing if they would have done that.
