Hood Sickle's quest non repeatable?

So hey, it turns out Evolved villains can be reset, so you've gotta do the quest to upgrade em again.
That said, Hood Sickle's quest seems to vanish once completed. Any solutions?

Try making a new save file, completing Soda Springs, and then go to the Academy (on the new save file).

Is this an on purpose, or is this a bug? It wouldn't make sense to make some quests a one time shot, and others not.

Did you switch him to a different trap? That seems to be the only way they reset...

Yes, putting a villain in a different trap resets them.
Yes, I tried talking to Hatterson as Hood Sickle AND my Skylander, both times it just brings up the Shop prompt.
I guess I'll just have to be careful next time, it won't be a problem when I have enough traps for EVERY villain, right now they've gotta share.

It's probably better to say the TRAP determines its evolved status. Use the same trap where you executed the quest, and you are still evolved. Don't do this, and they will be devolved.

So, what exactly happens to Hood Sickle's NPC that makes it disappear?

At least he'll still be evolved on the Trap you initially used to evolve him on. And as Qcumber said, you can probably do the quest on a different save file (the evolved status is saved on the trap, no need to worry there).

Yes, which is why either remembering or using a storage system like the Trap Team Trap Storage Box (like from TRU) is going to be key.

Restarting a save file is rather time consuming, though. Still waiting for an answer as to what happens to the NPC that controls his quest.

He opens a shop once the quest is complete, and any further attempts to talk with him simply opens the shop dialogue.

I'm really miffed that they didn't include a user friendly way to reset trap data. Until this point, I thought the "evolved" status was linked to the save file as opposed to the trap itself. Would make more sense...

I would argue that this a logic bug that wasn't caught during QA. If you can re-execute other quests, it only makes sense that this should've been available as well.

yes, the best is to wait with the villain quest until you have enough traps for the ones you want

Or stop wasting your money and just use one trap per element, then you'll only ever have to do each quest once and all your villains will be permanently evolved. Its not that big of a deal to just switch which villain you want to use in the Hub between missions - do you really need to have access to more than 8 (or eventually 11) villains in a single mission?

Honestly the only reason I can think for having more than one trap of the same element is if you want to do this on purpose - keep one trap with un-evolved villains on it and the other with evolved villains, so you can still play as the un-evolved ones in the future (for extra challenge or looks preference).

I guess if you are just really really into collecting toys, even useless ones, or find the 15 seconds it takes to swap villains in the Hub super annoying, I could see it, but otherwise this game does not really reward you at all for having more than one trap per element. You don't get stars or anything for increasing your trap collection, each trap stores all data about all villains that have ever been in it, including evolved status... heck the trap counts don't even match the villain counts, so for example there's more magic trap sculpts available than there are magic villains to put in them!

...

Sorry for the rant, I just feel really bad when I see posts from people that seem to think they are missing out on some aspect of the game if they don't get 1 trap per villain and are really just throwing their money away and actually making the game more of a pain to play due to issues like this (which isn't an issue for those that didn't buy more than one trap per element!).

I know this sounds very illogical. But since the game is a version 1.0.1, do you think it might be possible that after including the Dark and Light elements will in the game will update it as well? The thought of having an unrepeatable Quest does vex all of us Portal Masters. However, even though I almost completed Game Files 2 - 4, here's what I do before deleting them while keeping Game File 1 in tact:

1) Open up all the present boxes until there are no more. Mostly like to get some Level-Up bubbles for my non-Maxed Skylanders.
2) After deleting and nearly completing Game Files 2 - 4, I'd leave "The Ultimate Weapon" alone until I get the Dark and Light Action Packs.
3) Complete most Villain Quests while leaving Hood Sickle's quest alone. It's the best way to add evolved Hood Sickle to more Undead Traps.

I know that adding another comment after the first one is illegal, but I have come up with a solution. For those of you who own the Wii or Wii U, don't do Hood Sickle's quest yet until you copy the whole game file into an SD memory card and/or a flash drive with more than 8GB connected to either of the two Nintendo consoles. Then you can play his quest. And since it is unrepeatable, you can use the memory drives to overwrite the files inside the systems, and bring back his quest easily. I dunno if it'll work, but it'll be worth a try.
