This is a disaster. I got the Wii version and is now trying to download the Wii U code onto out Wii U console. I have deleted countless amount of stuff but it still won't let me download, telling me I don't have enough space. I even used the 4GB SD Card from my 3DSXL. Still nothing. I can't find anything else to delete on the console. Please help.

SD Cards can't be used to store Wii U software, it's just there for Wii mode. If you don't have enough space, you need to get an external hard drive. Almost all of them work, but for the slimer, cheaper ones a USB Y cable is needed (£3 on eBay) as one USB port doesn't give the hard drive enough power to work properly (REALLY Slows the Wii U down). I'd recommend a 250 GB if you don't download much, although I have a 500 GB one which I got for £30 in Currys.
Do you have a Basic Wii U (White) or a Black (Premium) one as the white ones only have an 8 GB Hard drive (5 usable after system software etc)

Do you have more than 8 GB of storage available?
http://support.activision.com/...&fs=Search&pn=1 "Please note: the download size of the upgrade to Wii U is larger than the 8GB storage space for those who own the Wii U Basic Set."

Ouch - that's a kicker. Considering the SWAP Force bundle was a basic system... :( |

An external hard drive with a power source is practically required if you plan on downloading retail games. A WiiU disc can hold up to 25GB, so if a game comes out that pushes that it might not even fit on a 32GB system given the system overhead if you have anything else.
An 8GB system is good enough if you only plan to store game saves, patches, DLC and an odd virtual console title. A 32GB system is good enough for a few digital (non-retail) downloadable games, a lot of virtual console titles and other odds and ends. You can also get maybe a couple smallish retail games on it comfortably. The thing is, digital retail titles tend to be the same price (or higher if you shop around), not to mention it is tied to that console and you cannot trade it in or take it to a friend's house. If you prefer digital titles (or got the Wii version and want to use the upgrade) find a quality external drive. They can be pretty cheap for more room than you will probably ever need (a 320 GB can be had for less than $80). Fortunately Nintendo doesn't restrict you to overpriced proprietary drive like Microsoft did for the XBox 360. Yes, it IS a hidden extra cost in the WiiU, but at least it is avoidable if you stick to disc based games. It's better than the Vita though, those little memory cards are ridiculously priced and required to play even cart based games (not to diss the Vita, I love mine and it needs all the help it can get). |

Activision and/or Toys for Bob shouldn't have created the Wii version of the game. It really sucks for everyone to not be able to download this content on the Wii.

The Wii U version on on Australian eshop was 17.5GB. I am using an old 80GB external I found lying around my house.

Odd that we get different sizes listed.
UK one came in at just over 14gig. Most of the day to download. Can't wait till the starters begin appearing in cheap sales like the giants ones are now Then I can get a disc as a backup in case of losing the download (HD Failure). That download took too long! |
