question about the chompy mage (story related chapter 1-2)

How could the chompy mage be part of that team of bad guys (that was locked up) if he was one of kaos's bad guys in giants? I mean they where locked of after a time when bad guys ruled skylands (witch could not have been between giants and trap team, and he just got out in the start of trap team). Also it seamed the chompy mage in giants sort of worked for kaos, this one did not seem to remember that. Are there 2 chompy mage's, or is this a inconsistency in the story?

I forgot but I don't think I saw Chompy Mage with the Doom Raiders when they originally did their evil crimes. Perhaps the Chompy Mage bonded into the group in Cloudcracker prison after we defeated him in giants?

His backstory mentioned him being recruited by the Golden Queen so it could have happened before Kaos blew up the prison. Hopefully the comic book will explain this.
