I haven't been following Trap Team even close to as much as I was the Giants and Swap Force. So I guess I have a few questions I need answered to decide if I should buy the game or whatever.
1. Are there are gates only Trap Masters can open or can villains and new core open them too?
2. So there's a villain vault, so I could have 1 trap to have all in its element, right?
3. Are the mechanics more like the first two games as TFB handled it, or are they more like SSF?
4. Is the only difference in reposes still a Wow-Pow?
5. What is the level cap now, still 20?
6. What modes are there in Trap Team, and are heroic challenges back?

1. I'm about halfway through the game and haven't yet seen any non-trapmaster gates.
2-5. ^ Knows what's up. 6. In addition to the Kaos mod (pretty much a hoard mode), there's a Brock's arena mode. Nothing PvP though.

So they're explicitly Trap Master only gates and no other types. That's what I was afraid of. |

2. Yes, you can switch out the villain that's inside the trap for another one of the same element. 3. I would say. TfB pretty much ignored everything about the mechanics in Swap Force besides jumping. 4. Yes. 5. Yes, still 20. 6. There is the standard story and its 4 difficulty levels, the Kaos Doom Challenge, and I think Brock's survival arenas are back too. Heroic Challenges, I don't think so.

How many elemental gates are there, on average, per level? What is the level length? |

The first level, like every level, has 3 Elemental gates, so I would assume the others do too.
The levels are nowhere near as long as Swap Force's, and are back to the SSA/Giants short length. EDIT: My mistake, the first level has 4 elemental gates; sorry about that.

there are some areas that you need a specific villain to open, for a hat or a treasure chest.
each level has 2, 3 or 4 elemental gates

from memory the adventure pack levels don't appear to be selected until you finish it, but the level starts when you put the toy on the portal.
once you've finished the level, it can be selected from the "chapter selection" in the menu
