Can somebody explain the Villian Evolution?

How do they evolve? Does it happen automatically or is it optional? What's the difference between and evolved villains and normal ones?

I think that villain evolution is what happens when you complete their Villain Quest. They then get a new color variation, extended timer, and some stat boosts I think. It is optional- you never have to complete the quests.

Some you have to do. As only those villains can get to certain soul gems charms etc
