Long time ago (don't even remember when) I added someone as a contact on Skype, assuming it was someone from dS. Finally the account spoke to me and revealed itself to be a bot. When I finally realized that, I decided to have some fun.

This is why I don't RP.

I found the entirety of this chat much more canon to the Avatar universe than that awful M. Night Shyamalan movie, and about a hundred times as enjoyable.

It doesn't appear to have any regards to what was being responded to it, merely acting on the fact that someone is making a post and presenting posts following a set script that doesn't seem to matter what is responded, it merely continuing the script without any care as to if anyone is interested in its speech.

I have a good eye for detail and the ability to read people. The demeanor of this individual seemed off compared to a woman who would really be looking for fun times. One doesn't simply link codes to others with little regard for their self worth, let alone someone who they began to speak to only a few minutes ago. And very few women would want to date someone who is 112 years old. She didn't ask what airball was or reply to the request, implying that she both didn't know and didn't care about such a wonderful sport. And nobody would simply shrug off penguin sledding like that; they'd either accept or acknowledge the absurdity of it.
Also consider the hefty responsibility I have with saving the world. Many spouses have difficulty dealing with their significant other being sent off to war, and this is that times a thousand. She seems to have blatant disregard of my duties, almost as if it's perfectly ok with her. All of this considered I was able to deduce that this was, indeed, a bot.

I love skype bots. I actually had this happen to me a while ago as well. And I did also mess with the bot:

B.) Responding to the bot in any way sends the script a flag that says "This is an active account" - so that they know to continue to spam your account.

A. I chose to respond to the bot in this way almost entirely with the idea of having a little bit of fun myself and sharing on dS.
B. Following the encounter the bot was immediately removed, blocked, and reported. You have nothing to worry about.

You can rest easy. This is all a joke thread.

Just to clarify - *I* don't care if you interact with the bot-I was simply trying to warn you away from it. It doesn't matter if you blocked/reported the bot - your account is now on an "Active Users" list that gets traded around by spammers so they know that your account is active and that you accept/read messages from people you don't know.

I'm sorry if I offended you - I was merely trying to offer helpful advice to you or anyone who read this topic and thought they might try to have fun with bots too. There's virtually no advantage - even more so when you consider the downside.

You're free to do it, of course.

It won't be too much of a bother. Receiving messages like this and blocking takes only a few clicks. I went through the same stuff on AIM many years ago.

AIM Bots... ugh. And the ICQ Bots. I haven't logged onto ICQ in years... wonder if my UIN. is still active.

AIM bots were pure hell. At least Skype can allow you to set it that only contacts can send you messages.
