This could be old news but the next frito lay contest will be high five. You can win him earlier. I hope it won't be to much struggle like the last promotion if you recall.

Sparx was mentioned in High Five's updated backstory~!

"High Five is one of the most skilled sky racers of all the dragonflies. But as the fifth son of the Royal High Flying Dragonflies, he was not allowed to enter any of the racing tournaments that took place each year because of his age. Well I do agree that the promotion stuff can get frustrating for the non-US consumers when all these companies are US based. Personally I'd rather see Activision do the promotions themselves and then ship globally. Its a drop in the bucket for them. However they'd rather hock their wares over to Frito Lay and their greasy snack foods for more profit, rather than get the positive public relations. Everything has a price. Activision is happy to sell off their principles.

There's no real reason that Activision has to be equally fair to each country. If someone wants to pay Activision to do the promo, then that's that company's business, but since Frito-Lay does want to pay Activision here in the United States, that's just them wanting to get more sales. Kids will see chips, they want free skylanders to win, parents will buy, kids will most likely lose, parents will buy more, and the cycle goes on until they win. If you really want to try to get companies to do these promos, send them letters, you had the ChupasChupa lollipop one before, right? Send a letter in to that company asking about the promo, make a petition, have multiple other fans send in letters, at least do something other than have the fanbase whine on a forum that has no direct influence on that company.

wreckingball, if it makes you feel better...I'd prefer an equal distribution method as well...my guess is this keeps the "hype" going by keeping "pseudo chase" items.

However, I do have to say that they do shift availability at times. I remember having to get some items from Europe before it hits the states...so you aren't alone on the feeling.

not sure about europe, but the reason we don't get the fritolays promotions in Australia is because they violate our advertising standards laws.

I seriously doubt they'd see much of a bump in public relations if they gave away figures themselves (at a loss), over letting frito-lay do it (at a profit). Only the diehards really care, and they are going to buy a ton regardless. And this is selling off principles? Really? so Activision shouldn't promote or sell anything if they can't or won't sell it in every country int he world?

And honestly, for all we know, Activision and Frito-Lay may have signed a 4 year deal for the exclusive right to these promotions, so Activision may not even have the ability to sell/promote this overseas if Frito Lay doesn't want to.

If he doesn't come in Europe, like the Sidekicks (back when they weren't Minis), then I will jus mean less money for both Frito Lays and Activision.

It's easy to speak, when you live there, but it is our right, as non American consumers, to be upset, if a character you are getting earlier doesn't come out in the rest of the "world" at the same time, just like with the Kaos trap Single Pack (if that is true).

I have no problem waiting for him to be released in 2015, just as I don't have absolutely any problem when a Wave comes out in another State, before it arrives here.

You can have all the things that you want earlier, as long as they are variants, Lightcores, reposes, and Treasure Hunts stuff.
They can even stay exclusives, but if we are talking about brand new characters, as you said, then the question is a bit different.

If they gave him the possibility to be preordered, like they did with Gearshift, it would be understandable, but this choice can surely be criticized.

I agree with Drek. As someone in the US, I think it sucks for everyone else, and can totally understand the complaining. I would want to, too.

No one is going to follow your suggestions if you're rude about it.
A petition isn't going to do crap anyway, it's their biggest AND closest target audience getting overstocked versus the lack of guarantee that the other countries will get the job done without Acti following closely. People would have to go talk to them directly in conventions, but when most of those conventions in US it's hard to make someone in there care enough.

Looks like non USA consumers will be able to get high five with ease sometime in 2015. Ds revealed that he is in a triple pack once in one of the later waves. I got this info from the new elements thread.

He, Bat Spin and Flip Wreck were part of a contest, created by Frito Lays, where fans had to submit their names, for those yet unnamed Skylanders.
Then, the best three names were choosen, an fans must once again vote to decide which one was better.

At first we thought only the winner would have received the fan name, in game, but then we found out that the other two characters also would.

So we all voted that High Five's name is better than Bat Spin (definitely) and Flip Wreck (debatable, but ok)... Which means what? He gets a cookie? It's now decided that most people like his name best? What was the contest actually for?

It was to give a name to one of those three once unnamed characters.

No, all three were named. All three still have those names. What did High Five win?

Ok so I found out that supposedly the person who first named him High Five won the actual contest and a chunk of scholarship money. Lol!! Surely, everyone else out there who submitted any of those three names has gotta be livid right about now!

High Five's namer got a 100k scholarship. It's good for them, and the consolation prize for the others was see their name being used but no prize IRL.

Also, not even the existence of later waves guarantees non US consumers can get him. I said several times, stores in my country REFUSE to add some of the later waves or do so in pieces and never get done with it. At most some people get the memo and import the missing figures themselves to put them as overpriced as ever in our equivalent of Ebay.

I know it sucks, but saying they have no reason is a bit misinformed. The US has laws about promotions and giveaways such as this. I'm sure other countries are the same way. To keep up with all those laws and follow them would be a huge effort, and some may have some rules that prevent them from doing the promotion there. There's also the shipping problem. Shipping overseas isn't cheap nor is it reliable. They may be able to work out something with some countries but not all. Our church has an online campus and sends out Bibles to some. They've had a hard time getting Bibles to other countries just because once it leaves the US, there's not real guarantee as it changes hands. I'm sure there are possibly other shipping methods that could be more reliable, but probably so expensive that it isn't worth the cost.
