I'll be getting both, but I'm curious if you guys are getting either the console or 3DS version first. If there are any other features exclusive to each, feel free to post them and I'll add them to the list.

Console version
  • Over 40 villains to trap
  • Traps to buy in order to capture the villains
  • Traptanium Portal of Power
  • Villain interaction (Wii-U exclusive)

3DS version
  • Less than 20 villains (currently)
  • No traps needed
  • Interact with captured villains by tickling, poking and spinning them in their Traptanium prison
  • Multiplayer Wi-Fi connection playing Skystones
  • Normal Portal of Power
  • Different storyline

I will be getting both, but if I had to chose one then it would without a doubt be the console version.

(Though I will be recording both versions, so im just glad that the 3DS is still a unique story)

I'll be getting the Wii version(due to my Xbox 360 getting the red ring of death) and maybe the 3DS version later on after seeing a playthrough of it( the 3DS villains don't seem interesting to me but I could use the portal when I buy Swap Force 3DS).

Both eventually, but not the 3DS until there's a significant sale. PS4 day 1.

No handheld to get that one(or money to get more than one starter pack) but definately console. 3DS version seems worth watching some LPs for sure, but this time it doesn't have the main story or the advantage of a villain that matches Kaos in hamminess/compensates Kaos' lack of hamminess from the console version in SF's case. But I could be wrong, Sheep Creep seems to be able to say a word or two so maybe the Dream Sheep actually is better than Count Moneybone.

For the first time, I'm skipping the 3DS version. I've always gotten both versions in the past. I really enjoyed SSA's 3DS version, and Giants was okay, but I couldn't get into SF's. I kept getting them in the past though due to their exclusive figures. However, since all we're getting this time is Barkley (who I already have) and Gusto (who's in a single pack.) This isn't to say that I won't pick it up in a couple of months if it gets good reviews by other users on here and I can just find the game itself for a decent price on eBay, but I definitely won't be getting it at launch.

Console is the version I'll get first (likely on sale on Black Friday or something) and then I'll wait until next year to get the 3DS version.

Benefit of having an annual franchise; your game goes down in price after retailers try to get it out of their store. I paid $20 for Swap Force 3DS...waiting like 6 months saved me like $50.

I am definitely getting the PS4 version on Day 1. I have the 3DS version pre-ordered but still undecided whether I will cancel it or not. It looks fun and all but just not sure if I would get into it - the SF one bored me. Only thing is I would then get Gusto single on day 1 and then have 2 of him if I buy the 3DS version later on. Ahh the debate continues.

I'm gonna buy the PS4 Starter Pack on Day 1.

Will probably try to pick up the 3DS version too, later, but only the game itself, since I'm planning to buy Gusto a few weeks after the release of Trap Team, I'm not interested in Barkley and I already own the SWAP Force 3DS Portal.

I'm not buying the 3DS version until I find it for $20-30 or less. It doesn't seem to build much upon previous 3DS games, and I don't like how there seems to be an abundance of puzzles, and I doubt I'll replay it enough to make it worth full price. It doesn't come with an exclusive figure for me to use in the console version and justify the price more.

You can do this on the Wii U version anyway, which is one version I'm getting, so it isn't unique to the 3DS for me.

I don't have a 3DS, so my choice is obvious. But, if I had one, then I would still stick with console, because it has more to do, and the graphics are shiny.

I got both this year. I bought the 3DS version of Giants and wasn't impressed, so I was timid with this one, but I love it. I love that I was able to upload all of my Skylanders to the game and can pick which one I want to play as with the touch screen. Characters that were having technical issues in the console version are working great on 3DS, although they play a little differently. I also love the double jump. The 3DS version really feels like a great platformer.

I've bought the PS3 version, and as many others, I'm waiting for a drop in price of the 3DS. Though I think both are great (based on previous games), you cannot really compare a console to a handheld game...

The 3DS version is horrid this time around. It's easily the worst of the 4. You can't skip dialogue and intro scenes entirely this year. Many levels have really bad motion control areas like moving a magic carpet or riding a dragon and no option just to use the thumb pad. The break up of level then villian stage is pretty annoying. You get nothing for doing for the villian boot camps aside access to the next stage.

The worst thing, in my opinion, is that there really isn't a good xp grinding stage in this game. SF's last level was great for raising levels. TT 3DS doesn't do much right. Get it if you're a completionist, then forget about it.

Eventually I hope to have both, but for now, I just have console, and I'm okay with that. The fact that there's a different story with 3DS makes me really want it more!
