Everyday, I go to Google for game-related news. When it's about Final Fantasy XV, all I see is "release date" with the occasional "Q1 2015 March fiscal year for XV release". If Square-Enix just announced Final Fantasy XV's release date and said nothing else 'til it's release, would you buy it?
That wouldn't be release because we would still need to know about the full story, characters, mechanics, locations, music, insights, weekly updates, interviews, voice actors, frame-rate, leveling up system, vehicles, playable demos, etc. We would need to know all about that before considering the release date.
Let's go back in time to 2009 and 2012 for Final Fantasy XIII and Aliens: Colonial Marines respectively. We all know they're hated and despised but let's be honest. How much DID we know about those games before they came out? We're told what XIII's story was about before we played it? Did get a chance to play a demo of the single player campaign of Colonial Marines? At least Ubisoft some credit for later showing what Watch Dogs really looks like a bit before it's release so we can look at it with a different perspective.
I'm a bit upset by how Mortal Kombat X already has a release, even though we don't even know the full roster so far or anything about game modes, online features and other stuff. We don't know when Smash Bros. Wii U will be released but we DO know a bunch of game modes coming that'll be part of the package.
When Hyrule Warriors was announced, I wanted to know about what to expect before the release date, otherwise I wouldn't be thinking of buying it. What we were first shown wasn't enough for me to look to buy it. But when I learned about the full roster (especially the playable villains), story mode, free mode and an adventure mode, that has me excited. Same with Bayonetta 2 in the recent Nintendo Direct.
So, what am I asking is, can we all just be more cautious about the games themselves before looking to get them in our hands?
