So anyone interested in the Tablet version of the game? (I know there's several topics about this. But this one shows the gameplay from a friend you guys might know).

Is the sound gimmick in the traptanium portal from the console versions going to be supported in the tablet version?

The Tablet version allegedly won't have a portal speaker, but it will utilize the tablet's speaker and process the sound to make it sounds like it's coming from the portal. It's somewhere in this video, but I'm too lazy at the moment to dig through and find it.
EDIT: Found it. 5 minutes in.

I thought it worked on the mini?
If it doesn't I will have upset kids. I'm getting it no matter but if it only works on mine they will want to borrow it all the time! At least I will have something to play during lunch at work |

I think it's amazing that they're now able to fit the full console version onto tablets, even if it's only a small selection that's compatible, although I'm sure they'll work on that.
I do own the Note 10.1 (2014) and have updated it to Android 4.4.2, so I'm ready if I do decide to get the tablet version, although most likely I'll just get the Wii U version.

If they allow all iOS devices powerful enough (including iPhones), they could make way more money.
Not that difficult, maybe after launch. I think that's a no-brainer. They know to sell to the way-underpowered wii crowd. IGN verified that the controller will only work for that game (not other iOS games). Every comment said that was a really dumb move on their part. If they just spent a coupe bucks more, they could have had a reason for non-skylander-fans to check it out. There's a craaaazy market/opportunity to rake it in like never before... even ordinary people are like *Jackie Chan meme with hands on head*. Activision should know better about how to milk this thing! I want to see everyone with a phone or tablet buy this thing and become a fan. Activision should try to get Apple to approve BTLE controllers as part of their standard controller spec in iOS 8. |

I doubt they want to put it on such tiny screens. It would not show up very well. As far making the controller work of for other games, that's not possible. Games need to be program to take command from a controller, not the other way around. Since Activision doesn't own these other games, they can't patch them. Activision isn't in the hardware market really, so I don't think they want to turn this into a new revenue stream. And honestly, if the controller could work with other games, or even if Activision had other tablet games they could use it with, customers would feel cheated having to buy skylanders to get the controller.

It's entirely possible to make a controller work in all games by just using the controller api Apple introduced specifically for that purpose.
Activision are probably making a loss on the hardware here, it's a lot for $75 so they DONT want loads of people buying it for the pad. They want people who will buy more figures, the chance of sucking people in probably didn't stack up to the cost of giving away almost free pads to those with no interest in skylanders. |

It's a pity it won't work on my S4, I could use screen mirroring or HDMI out.

Maybe the free demo could work with iPhones to get people to buy the console/iPad versions and then people might ask them for iPhone versions. I think it would be less convenient on a phone, swapping toys, but I'd still dig it... just hit pause and swap. I love playing all kinds of games on my phone in bed so I don't wake my wife. They might find a creative workaround like the "instant character" idea.
Having to buy a second special-single-game controller to play co-op is a bad idea. Co-op is such an important part of the SL experience, but nobody will buy that second controller. Pyrofer, it does make sense that they only want to suck in their market if it's not profitable and I could guess maybe they might take a loss at first, but they could move crazy volume on the huge (high-income) iPad install base then rake it in, getting people sucked into it with the free demo. I'm guessing Activision wouldn't lose money on this, they know how to sell cheap plastic. Of course I don't know the costs, just my guess. |

So something I just noticed. The Kindle Fire HDX is listed as being compatible with Fire OS 4 or higher. I researched what OS my kindle has and it is Fire OS 3.5. I further researched and there is not even OS 4 available and also no release date is even given. So how is it supposed to be compatible if the OS needed is not available?

The Trap Team tablet controller is made for little hands. It's tiny in person and as an adult I had issues hitting the correct shoulder buttons while testing it out.
The alternative for adults would be the new Moga Rebel tablet controller that will work with Trap Team as a bluetooth device, and is the size of an Xbox 360 controller. You can actually play two player; one with the Trap Team mini controller and the other on a Moga Rebel controller. |

This is my worry, too. I have last year's Kindle Fire HDX 8.9, and I believe that only has OS 3.5, like you said. I'm not savvy enough about this to know if it will be updateable to 4.0 or not. I did notice that the new Kindle Fire HDX's coming out in October will have OS 4, but I'm not going to buy a brand new device just for the ability to play this on my Fire. Hopefully my Kindle will be able to be updated with OS 4.0, but I'm not holding by breath. The GOOD news, though, is that since the game itself is going to be a free download, if/when the game is available and compatible with my device, I'll be able to find out quickly and without having to go out and buy the starter pack first. EDIT: Actually, I guess I just needed to dig a little deeper! According to this Amazon: "Fire OS 4 will be available on all 4th generation Fire tablets and will be available for all 3rd generation Fire tablets via a free, over-the-air software update. Firefly will be available on Fire HDX 8.9. Fire OS 4 will be available on Fire phone early next year." Last year's Kindle Fire line was the 3rd generation, so it looks like this game WILL be compatible after all to ALL Kindle Fire devices from 2013's models and newer! I called Amazon to ask them and they said it would be compatible after the update. My question which they did not answer is "when is the update available for the 3rd generation. " My wife has an ipad so wondering if I should just download it on there and move on. I am guessing I could play the game on both tablets if I bought one starter pack and just switch to mine once update goes through. |

In their press release they pointed out that the update for the Fire Phone will be early 2015, but didn't say anything about the update release for the 3rd-Gen Fire's, which makes me hopeful that maybe it'll be available as soon as the new Fire's are released (October 2nd). I really have nothing to back that up other than just a hunch, but that's my hunch at least. My only remaining concern with this is the battery life for the portal and the controller. The guy in the video said something, I believe, about the batteries lasting for about 8 hours of gameplay, which would be pretty bad if true. it doesn't seem that these two devices happen to have the ability to power with an AC adapter, which is a bit of a shame for me. I really have no intention of playing this in a car or anything like that, but I am very interested in playing this at work while I'm on break and lunch, and I have plenty of places I could plug one or both into a power outlet if that option were available. I suppose I could go the route of rechargeable batteries... |

I just looked at a write up on another website http://www.androidauthority.co...hd-line-526950/ It said that the 3rd generation should be available for the update some time between October and early 2015. Nothing like being nice and specific. So that would change my question to "can you play the game on 2 different tablets"? |

Yeah, it sounds like they're just extrapolating from the originally-quoted info. "It will happen sometime after now and before the Fire Phone gets it", is basically what they're saying. lol. As for your remaining question, yeah, there doesn't seem to be a limit on how many tablets you can play it on. You're not paying for the game, you're paying for the portal, controller, and figures. So if you have those, then you can play it on as many different compatible tablets as you like! |
