In addition to the Skylanders comic, which launches October 1st, the property will be introduced simultaneously in a Micro Fun Pack form, which will have heavy presence in Toys R Us and GameStop, and in a hardcover collection.

Toys ‘R Us will sell an exclusive set of Skylanders Micro Fun Packs, which will contain an exclusive “Trap” that can be used in the Skylanders game. That range will be sold in the video game department, right next to the new game. “It’s a giant number,” Adams said of the Toys R Us order.

But Fun Packs and comics are not the only formats. The hardcover will be launched simultaneously with the first issue. “It’s an unusual strategy for us- we’re doing a $10.00 smaller sized hardcover and the first issue of the comic at the same time,” Adams explained. “So kids can either choose to buy the hardcover that contains three issues or the single issue, and the comic will have extra material not available elsewhere.”

Smart idea, since their target audience doesn't usually go to the comic book store. That's for folks much much older usually (which is ironic considering the market--but not when you consider that comics as a medium has been dying for a long time).

Dang it, to get the Kaos Trap (if you aren't getting the dark starter) is to buy that comic. (That's what I got from it [thiugh, I skipped a good portion of it, so please tell me if I'm getting it wrong])

Legendary Undead Skull Trap.... That's Jawbreaker-themed? Okay this is a fruit salad of variants. Pretty hilarious, but I hope they have some more consistent ones for the other 2 :U
And I totally want that Golden Queen poster. Too bad that the easiest way is buying some of those horribly-drawn comics... Well, at least the coloring is good no matter how exaggerated the perspectives get or how downright scary everything looks with the over realistic approach.
