Villain Stash

When Dark Wildfire was fighting the Gulper, and when Gulper knocked down that bridge, you can see for a brief moment 'a villain is required to open the villain stash' on the top left screen. What do you guys think it is?

Most likely its the villain version of a elemental gate/swap zone/feat of strength. It'll unlock extra money or maybe something like hidden hats or treasures. Might work as being needed for some of the villains performing quests. Probably finding all of them will be an achievement for stars in game.

I consider it a thinly veiled disguise to change/add ways to get "stuff" in the game: money, hats, etc.

from what I understand NPCs are involved with unlocking Villain "Heroics".
