I haven't seen EB Games using placeholder prices before.

It's not triple the price, EB generally sell cores for $16 over here in Australia, so about double the price.

Here in Italy is 10€ (9,95) for a Core and 15€ (14,99) for a Giant/Swapper and probably Trap Master.

They use place holder prices all the time. They have the amiibo figures for pre order at $30 each and pricing hasn't been announced for them.

these are ebgames prices though, they can be usually found for less at K-Mart/Target/Big W.

I haven't seen placeholder prices before, but then again I don't go in there. Oh, wait they sell the starter packs for $99 (placeholder price), so you're right they do use them.

They didn't have EB Exclusive when they first uploaded them, but they've fixed that. Even more disappointed. Yeah, I've lost interest in this, this is a step too far.
