You guys have to realize and understand that Malefor is very old like the Chronicler. He was the first purple dragon after all and there were others after him and before Spyro.

The fact that he stated that in the game didn't surprise me. I already figured that other purple dragons had come before Spyro but they had obviously failed to stop Malefor. Malefor was suppose to be the most powerful purple dragon sense he was the first one. For Spyro to get even close to Malefor's size it would probably take a couple centuries to grow to that size.

And yes, Malefor was larger then Ignitus and the other Guardians. Maybe it had to do with the fact that he was a purple dragon. The purple dragons tend to be, from what I understand, more powerful then all the other ordinary dragons.

Actually he was trapped there for 1000 years, not 3, since purple dragons appear every 10 generations...1000 years.
