You know how people would like to direct respond to other users, but don't wish to clog the threads up with quotes? How about a ping notifier?

It's where ya go @[insert user's name here] and type a message and they get notified that they were mentioned. It's very useful, to let people know that they were mentioned in a message.

Or at least a mention that you were quoted (outside of Guestbook and signatures).

I agree with this idea. It will make stuff much more easier and there won't be quotes all over the page. I must say quotes get really annoying and messy.

I think the reply button should notify users instead of being another button for posting.

Yeah, exactly.

It actually doesn't sound like a good idea, Trix. I've experienced that in deviantART before, in which my first mention was because I accidentally mentioned TLoS in a group that hates it. They kind of went on a hate attitude, but all I asked is if was okay to upload a fanfic that references TLoS, even though it focuses on mostly classic.

I mean, it sounds like something, but everyone would hate getting negative mentions.

But that is life, I mean it's not everyone is gonna use @[username] here to harass, if they did the gnorc hammer would probably faster than Sonic can run.

I think that'd be a nice change if not too much trouble

There had been an attempt to deal with quote mountains in the past: the number of quotes within quotes was limited to the current amount it is right now. Which is 3 or 4, I think. I like the @User idea, but just because it's available doesn't mean people are actually going to use it. I'm still guilty of quoting posts that are right above mine. <.>

i actually prefer the quote feature itself but if there were a notification for when you get replied to via quote, it'd seem like a welcome feature.

Yeah and I was also saying that too. I mean if you get quoted or normally pinged, you should get a notification about it.
