I had environmental asthma when I was little due to second hand smoke. I'm not around cigarettes anymore. Thank Spyro. It's funny because I breathe perfectly.

Reminds me that today at work (I work at a gas station) an old man came in with a lit cig in his hand and just smoked the whole time he was in the store. He didn't even care. wasn't sure what to do really...

My dad has been a huge smoker my entire life and he's never been careful about who he's smoking around, so even as a really young child I've constantly been dealing with it. And, you know, I don't enjoy it. I'm not sure, but I think it might be the cause of a couple of my health problems too.

Anti-secondhand smoke here :)

I can't really say much because I smoke both cigarettes and pot on occasion, but it's a really bad habit and horrible for your health smilie I never do it around children though, especially the second one.

My dad is a big smoker but he dose not smoke inside since my sister has CF so he does not smoke around us.

It kills.
I once saw this woman on the news years ago. She was like thirty years old and died of lung cancer but had never smoked in her life, but was surrounded by people who did. Both of my parents (and other family members) have smoked my entire life and there are days now where I have a hard time breathing a little bit, and I know that's why. My sister has the same problem sometimes, too. I swear if I get lung cancer I'm like suing their asses or something...

On my hand, if I ever have to deal with smokers nearby, I simply cover my nose to prevent breathing it. They even sometimes get the message and stop simply to be polite, something I will always thank them for when they do.

Not as bad as actually smoking but still damaging over time.

I live in a neighborhood full of smokers. Secondhand smoke is a regular thing, unfortunately.

I'm always around smokers (pretty much everyone in my family is a smoker), so I am constantly having to deal with second-hand smoke.

I'm entirely against it.

Good thing my parents don't smoke.

I'm entirely against second-hand smoke. It's basically just saying "i'm gonna give you lung cancer without a cigar!"

I'm sorry but this topic seems like it is making out that people who smoke around others are horrible people but we know that isn't true. Just because they want to and you happen to be there then what are you gonna do? Tell them they cannot smoke? Make them go outside?

They shouldn't be smoking anyway... and umm yeah, I will tell them they shouldn't smoke because I care about their health and I will ask them to go outside because I care about my health. I shouldn't have to suffer because of their stupid decisions. If you wanna screw up your lungs, that's fine, but leave me out of it.

What's wrong with asking them to go outside and smoke alone? Shouldn't they be doing that anyway, knowing full-well the health problems associated with secondhand smoke (especially around people who are even more vulnerable to it, such as young children and diabetics)? We have a right to breathe fresh air, don't we?
