Plant that I thought was a mutant cat...

Really... No joke. My heart was literally pounding as I was trying to figure out what that thing was.

I felt so stupid afterwards. Next I'll be going after rabid raccoons thinking they're friendly kitty cats like that lady in that one commercial.


Any of you mistake a harmless object for a deadly creature that wants to rip your face off?

I once thought a log on the beach was a dead body. It was at night and lighting was very poor.

Once when I was younger our vacuum was sitting in the hallway and I woke up in the middle of the night and I thought it was Samara from The Ring sitting on her knees praying. I was so scared omg

I do that sometimes. I can't think of an example right now though.
Well, there was that one time I was in the water on a big beach and I thought this huge dead fish was someone's little surfboard that they left because it sunk underwater and they couldn't find it. I kept trying to pick it up and it kept slipping from my fingers before I realized it was a dead fish. I definitely wasn't a very bright kid.
I know that isn't mistaking a harmless object for a deadly creature but I guess it's sort of relevant since it's still mistaking one object for another.
