I'm thinking about getting a PS Vita, any thoughts or recommendations.

For background I've never owned a non-Nintendo system so I haven't played any of the ported PS exclusives, so all the collections or HD editions are new to me. I am interested in many games, but is the system worth the $200 price tag? I've heard there are several great games like Tearaway and games like Minecraft and Ratchet & Clank Collection coming soon...

I don't have one, though I have the Vita's predecessor, the PSP and I am quite happy with that as it works not just for gaming but as a MP3 device and I have FF7 on it. :3 A friend of mine has a Vita and I know he rather likes it, though I'm not sure on any specifics.

In the end, it's up to you as to whether or not it's worth it. Look at it's features and the games available for it, not just the games available in hard copy card form but also the ones on the PSN. If enough games interest you enough and the features are useful enough, then I'd say it would be worth it.

The only thing holding me back from it is the price, a pre-owned WiFi model at Gamestop is about $180. I am interested in:

ridge racer (buy full digital version only, retail game in shops has only a 3 tracks, 3 cars etc)

if you get a psvita get the old one with the oled screen, its way better than the lcd screen in the new psvita slim...

one warning tho- the memory for the vita is quite expensive

So get the original model? I totally forgot about Gravity Rush and Invizimals!

yes the original first model if you can, i strongly advice you go for it... also pick up a 32gb card while your at it, because if you want ps+ there are a lot of digital games to get for it. if your not that interested in digital but like to buy boxed versions of games. then the minimum card is 16gb. these 4-8gb cards not worth bothered with, they will fill up in no time.. also the psvita need 1gb on the card for system software.

I use a 4gb for my PSP and that holds:
3 saves KH BBS
3 saves KH BBS FM
Modnation Racers
Little Big Planet PSP
Soul Calibur Broken Destiny
FF7 -Crisis Core-
FF7 (download game)
About 50 music files
Total: 11 saves, 1 Game, ~50 songs
It can probably hold a few more saves and some more songs, but it won't fit another game on it. Though some more data could be used by the system or other parts for a Vita, this could help for a rough idea.
