Okay, so how long do I have to keep defending the gate in Dragon City? The gate is closed, no enemies are inside, what now? Do I wait for the door to open again, or what?

go to the torch thing and make spyro breath fire on it till it catches on fire then go to the other 1 and do the same thing after a while they'll come together and close the gates for good
