It's finally gone. I wish it wasn't so, but it is. I guess it's what had to be done with the condition Nintendo is in, but it still really bites that new games like Pokemon Black 2/ White 2 and legendary competitive titles like Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart DS have been revoked of their internet capabilities.

Oh well, bright day for homebrew devs or something? I'd almost expect an unofficial MKWii server to pop up for Homebrew Channel users. smilie

What's your take on this?

I did a bit of racing in MK Wii with my friend yesterday because it was going to shut down, and we were going to do some today, if it wasn't yet gone, as we didn't know what time it ended. Well, it's over already, as you said, so we won't today I see.

Nintendo WFC is accessed by its respective consoles via embed URL. Performing an ls command or JTAG in sudo on a Wii or DS, or decompiling official binaries on them can be done. The URL can be hex-edited and now you can perform reverse tunneling on a proprietary server, but how many said server can hold is unknown. I'd love to see what Team TWiizers does if they do anything in response.

A shame that this had to happen. The only real reason I still played Mario Kart was for online play. Its a good thing I already might be getting a Wii U in a couple of weeks smilie
