Ok, so I got a 3DS for christmas, and I only have 2 games on it right now. Im also interested in the 3DS versions of the Skylanders games, as I know they are different to the console versions. So, Should I get any of the 3DS versions? If so, which ones? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
EDIT: Thanks for your views guys! Does anyone recommend places to get the starter packs at a decent price? (Im in the UK!)

I found if to be a decent side story. It is useful for leveling your Skylanders though. 1 to 20 in in a couple hours time.

If you are a Skylander Fan the 3DS games are the next best thing to your console . If you are only choosing one , then i say Swop Force 3DS will give you the best value for your pennies .
Yes they are different but in a good way . You get to see all your toys run and jump and use strange new powers .

From someone who has all three my favorite is spyros adventure. But I recommend swap force because you can use the skylanders from all three games.

I find them an excellent way to get more out of your figures, and Swap Force 3DS is very good for power levelling (If you're that way inclined).
In terms of content, length, and quality, don't expect a miracle (I found Swap Force 3DS had a few irritating issues), but that's the price you pay for portability. Swap Force is interesting because it operates with a virtual collection, meaning you swap anytime, anywhere, with any figure you've registered on yer portal. The other thing to note is Dark Spyro is actually an entirely different character to standard/Legendary, and for me pretty much carries me through some of the harder challenges. I will say one thing about SA and Giants? Ice Physics... when a challenge goes "Avoid the blades, also ICE PHYSICS!" I'm decidedly unhappy with whatever genius included that, though as a challenge it's going to take a while!

SSA on the 3DS is by far the best of the three IMO.

I've always found the 3DS games to just be an extension in the same vein as an Adventure Pack or such. They're really not worth paying full retail for; the best thing to do in any multiple console household is to buy a main console version first, and then the 3DS/others whenever they go on sale.
I actually picked up Swap Force 3DS for like $20 thanks to Walmart price matching TRU's sale a few weeks back plus the mcDonalds coupon. That's a perfect price point for me lol

buy them!
in my opinion, they're at least 2x more fun than the console versions. also, they all have a different story, with different characters. missions are fun sized (like 7-10 minutes) plenty of places to explore. and it feels like a world of fun and opportunity in a small box. not only that, but you get exclusive figures if you get the starter packs. that's why whenever a skylanders game comes out, i get the 3DS version first, and than the console version. i personally like the handheld version better, to me, it's a lot more fun. EDIT: all 3, if not, spyro's adventure. |

I enjoyed the difference of the 3DS games, esp being able to jump!! I'd recommend at least giving them a try!!

i liked all the ds games. i agree that the double jump is nice and the ability to attack while jumping. swap force was my favorite because you could load you characters into game and could switch at anytime without having to use the portal.

Thanks for the views guys! I'll try to find them cheap somewhere on the internet, and then I can finally use my 3DS again!
