Too many of them follow the Call of Duty canon, and the games that get noticed end up being sort of weird for me to look at. Jesus, what's this world coming to?

There's a lot of great games that don't revolve around FPS.
There's even some FPS that are trying to change the norm of FPS.

I do gaming a little differently. I like to buy games that are old rather than the newest releases. I find older games more fun. Just a suggestion.

I think a better reason to give up on video games would be to actually do something productive once in a while.


Seriously. Not saying gamers are worthless, but to turn your back on them because they don't meet your expectations of a good game means that you have become far too immersed in them.

I complain about them because they end up being more popular than any other types of games. The only newer games I'm looking forward to get in the future are Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Dark Souls II.

That's different. It's a puzzle game, and I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (They shouldn't have put blood marks/separated body parts in Portal 1, though. If that didn't happen, the game would have been rated E10+, like Portal 2 was, despite Portal 2's worst word being "hell" (it's only mentioned twice in one section. No biggie).)

Eh, video gaming is still a very new industry, and is very likely to constantly change. The reason why some of the "products" (video games) are generally similar, or don't try too many things new, is because many of these overused concepts or what have you, have worked tremendously in the past for income. Of course, hinging off popularity can, and definitely will, lead to supersaturation. These can merely be trends.

Publishers have started giving some developers of popular series longer development cycles, so that they can start introducing more innovative things that the "consumer" may want. There's also the noteworthy fact that people will compare the tiniest similarity to other games, and that first impressions can make people condemn a game they may actually love, or make someone play a game they actually hate. Though

You may be giving up too early, or not looking hard enough--there's likely to be something in the pile of video games out there that you can enjoy, or like, or if not, maybe start trying to play games in a different perspective.
