Once I'm happy with the spacing and heights of the platform I texture the foam and shape it to look like rocks. To texture it, I heat up a butcher knife and let the heat do most of the work for me

I then added some clay to the display where the lava will flow. Afterward I draped the clay with glue to create a smooth looking lava flow.

Base coat of white paint across the whole display. Why? Because when we paint the whole thing red to get the Lava effect going, the white base coat will make the red brighter.
