I kept the included stickers off, because I thought it would look better without them, but that's not really the point, so yeah.
There are two rows for Skylander storage, with one row above the portal storage area that i'd like to call the lower row, and above that and below the roof of the tower is the other row i'll call the upper row.
Here's the tips regarding the use of the SSA tower case:
- Tip #1: Put taller characters in the upper row.
Why, you may ask? Well, taller characters like my S2 and S2 have a bit of trouble fitting in the lower row, so I had to put them in the upper row. Generally, it comes to trial and error when it comes to finding the perfect spot in the tower for a particular Skylander, but I generally put the shorter guys (like ,,LC and S2 ) in the lower row. - Tip #2:For putting wired portals inside, either wrap the wire around the portal (Wired portals from SG/SSA) or stuff the wire inside the portal compartment to where the tower case closes (SSF portal)
- Tip #3: Traveling with your Skylanders in the tower case? Get some tape to stick them to the Skylander spots in the tower so they don't slide around.
Here's my tower arrangement without a portal, so you can see what i'm talking about
Sure, the tower was meant to house the SSA wireless portal, but it can house the SG/SSA (and even SSF!) wired portals if you know how to wrap the wire around the portal/stuff the wire into the case.
Here are images of the wired portals I have laying around and images of said portals in the tower.
SG PS3 Wired Portal:
By itself, wrapped
In the tower
How the tower closes with it inside
SSF Wii U Portal:
By itself
In the tower
How the tower closes with it inside
The SG PS3 Portal I have is easier to wrap the wire around, but my SSF Wii U portal isn't as easy to wrap around. in fact, after wrapping the SSF portal's wire in a way different from what I used to wrap the SG portal's wire around itself, I just ended up just pushing the SSF portal's wire in there until the tower would close. I have a feeling that the Trap Team portal won't even fit in the tower, but we'll have to wait until the game comes out to prove it.
Well, last summer, I discovered the uncomfortable fact that my Skylanders like to slide around and tip over in the tower case when i'm going somewhere, which is a bad thing for me, because i'm concerned about them getting damaged in mid-travel, (especially my , as I had to replace my original one due to an accident that I had with him regarding one of his eyes, so yeah.)so here's something I tried this morning: putting a wad of tape on the bottom of the base of each skylander I wanted to have in the tower case, and then attaching the skylander with the wad of tape on the bottom of its base to a circular spot in the tower. Here's a pic of my S1 with a wad of tape on the bottom of his base.
Want to know how I made the wad and stuck my skylanders into the tower spots? Follow these steps:
1.) Take a piece of (preferably invisible) tape. You can take as much as you think you'll need.
2.) Cut the piece from the roll.
3.) With the sticky side down, fold one of the ends up, and the fold the other end up.
4.) After doing that, you should have a wad of tape that's sticky on both sides.
5.)Put one side of the tape wad on the bottom of a Skylander you'd want to put in the tower case, as seen on the picture of my S1 above.
6.) Put the skylander with the tape wad on a spot in the tower. (Make sure the tape sticks to the spot!)
Repeat for each skylander you'd want in the tower until all 8 spots are filled.
And after you filled in all of the spots with your favorite normal-sized characters, that's it, really. Now you can move the tower case without having to worry about your Skylanders sliding around, tipping over, and risking damage. They should be fine, as long as you aren't too reckless (i.e. treating it like crud, swinging it very hard, etc.), as I lightly swung around the tower case with my skylanders taped inside and they still stood up without taking any damage. Depending on the character and how much tape you used, a figure might wobble in place a bit when the tower's moved, but that could be fixed by applying a longer wad of tape.
My mom did suggest that I stick my skylanders to the tower with velcro instead of invisible tape, but i like the tape better because it's easier to remove.
Before anybody can complain about the tower not holding certain things, here's what the tower CAN and CAN'T hold:
Can Normally Hold: (As far as I know)
- Up to 8 Core (Normal-Sized) Skylanders
- 1 Portal of Power (Best with SSA Wireless, But can work with any console-sized wired portal, at least as of SSF.)
Can't Normally Hold: (Not at least without either compromise and/or a sort of workaround)
- More than 8 Core Skylanders
- Any Giant characters (Excluding normal-size characters. Think or . Yeah, those kind of guys.)
- Swap Force characters (Excluding normal-size characters. By this I mean the swappers. Think or . Despite the fact that one could put 4 full (!) Swappers into the case, you'd have to put the 4 full swappers in the top row, as a full swapper (at least out of the ones I have, anyway) can't go into any of the spots in the bottom row. You'd have to store them in halves if you wanted to fill it up and didn't want to put any cores in the bottom row, but storing a swapper in the tower case isn't recommended, because the bases of the swapper bottoms are too big to fit in the tower spots anyway.)
Geez, that's quite a wall of text I got there. I hope it's good enough to answer any questions you might have with the SSA Tower case. If you have the Tower case, maybe you can experiment with characters I don't have.
