What about the eruption?

We all know that Kaos and Glumshanks swapped their body halfes during the eruption. But now they are saying that Kaos helped all the villains to escape out of a prison. Are they still swaped? Can they swap whenever they want? Are they going to swap during the game? Is Glumshanks even in STT?
Whats up with all these plots? Can they have a proper ending for once?
