I have a feeling it'll be red. For Fire Skylanders. Actually, did the orange for Giants represent Tech or Fire?

Purple would be very interesting and would fit the theme quite a bit IMO. I've been waiting for purple bases on them for a while anyways.

I said after they revealed Giant's new bases: next will be blue, red, purple.

As for distant future, black and yellow are cool, as well as skyblue, gray, brown, clear.

Well I'd say if that does happen, you found yourself a brilliant, albeit coincidental, pattern there and a good teaser for future base colors for Skylanders. I never thought of it like that before.

Cynder was purple but Giants' base was orange.

So far TFB's games have had secondary colors (green, orange) and VV has primary colors (blue).

The only thing I remember from my elementary art classes is cold colors (blue, green, purple) and warm colors (red, orange, yellow). So far, the bases have alternated between cold and warm: green, orange, blue. I'd say a warm color next and I'd really like to see red, though by my totally made up theory yellow is equally likely. I'll vote for red by pure preference, but just in general making a prediction that I think it'll be either of the two warm colors for the next base color.

I have a theory to figure it out:
SSA: their first game, so they just decided, "let's make the base green."
SG: The logo was orange, so they made the bases orange.
SSF: They wanted to make it green for the logo, but they did that. So they made it blue for what they should've done for SSA
STT: Whatever color the logo is.

Stop thinking the bases represent elements, they have nothing to do with elements.
Speaking of which, does anyone think there will be another element or 2?

I wouldn't count on it being more elements. I believe there was indeed a video where they mentioned they ATM have no intention of having more elements. It could happen, but it's very unlikely and I'm OK if they don't.

They want the base colour to stand out as different as possible from the others.
I would expect if they are going to go with a colour similar to an older base green or maybe orange related colours are more likely than anything near blue.
This would count out purple for me but red may be ok.

Yellow sounds like a good bet.

They are deliberately slightly clear so the portal light can shine through them, so black is a no go.

Purple I think is too close to the recent blue and could cause confusion, so I think is very unlikely.

I am firmly placing my bet on Yellow.

Not if they do it a bright enough, pure almost neon yellow. That would stand out from the orangey-red of the Giants base.
