You read my mind. An open-world Spyro game with all the classic characters returning would be awesome.

If it's not dead, why does it need reviving?
Last time I saw Spyro was alive and kicking. His plataforming games, the Classic/LOS series or the old canon are a whole other story; but Spyro doesn't need reviving or an umpteenth thread about how your idea of a perfect game is totally perfect.

Took the words right out of my brain, Bifrost. :)
The only "revival" I'd like to see at this point is the classics given an HD remake in Skylanders style, and that because a) I like that art style and b) the fan screaming/rage would be hysterical. :D |

Razz, could you explain Bifrost's last comment, though? I mean, you know a Spyro reissue can't happen unless Spyro gets a new, EPIC game, but I'm just wondering what Bifrost means.

Bifrost means that Spyro is fine because Skylanders is ridiculously popular and, regardless of opinion, Spyro is a character in that series and a star player for many of the people who play those games (because Skylanders doesn't dictate to you who the heroes are, you get to pick them yourself). He's also a major character in many of the Skylanders books and is basically getting more attention as a "side" character in this series than he got in his entire run as the star of the classic/LoS games.
Seriously, the only people who whine and quibble about Skylanders not being a part of the Spyro franchise are fans that are in too deep to be very logical about it. Everyone else, i.e. the people who have made it a $2+ BILLION series of games, doesn't care. As much as I gripe about aspects of this franchise (*cough*LoS*hack*) I am actually a huge fan of the whole Spyro franchise, and that includes Skylanders; it's a logical evolution for the series and I'm glad that new generations get to fall in love with their own purple dragon that's special to them. |

Eventually, though, kids are gonna want something more hardcore. Skylanders will die out in time, you know. |

Just like Call of Duty and Battlefield died out and...oh wait, no, that's not a thing that's happened. :D The great thing about marketing to kids is that there will always be a new audience. The other thing about Skylanders is that it is not just getting the attention of children; there is a HUGE base of fans and collectors who are full adults (with or without children of their own) who are fueling this franchise.
Just as there is always a market for "dark and edgy" games, so there is always a market for "kids'" games, and a franchise can happily remain one way and stay successful (when Spyro went darker with LoS, it nearly killed the franchise a second time; it took returning to its child-friendly roots to give that nearly dead horse a new lease on life). |

Yeah, I think they were focusing a bit too much on Naughty Dog's tactics with Jak & Daxter's sudden tone-shift. Now that I think of it, that's our best bet for the original Spyro to come back. The developers just need to focus on a way to implement the mechanics I've mentioned there, but I believe they're gonna need someone...someone who wouldn't stop talking about Spyro and yet wouldn't stop being so serious about his talks (on the sense of being mature about it, not on the sense of arguing so damn loud that it's like a live loudspeaker). |

Just get over the fact that Goonro is not coming back already. There's no point in speculating about it all the time, I went through my phase of doing that, and I sounded like a parrot. Wow, now I know how annoying I was. |

Just like Shadow Legacy killed the Classic series, right? Just like LOS killed the solo Spyro games, right? The fact you don't like the way something is happening doesn't mean the world shifts into your perspective,Loco, and that's all you seem to think of things. Will Acti have a moment of madness and bring the Classics back? We won't know until it happens. Will Skylanders eventually die out? Not because it's not your idea of a Spyro game, but probably - eventually the attachment issues that are starting with Swap Force will make people stop buying the toys altogether to stick to their old ones, and that'd kill the sales in a jiffy. The thing is,we're not the ones to choose how and if old Spyro should be put back in a game again,or if Skyro in a solo game would do nicely. We're not devs and we're definately not the ones with the IP,and heck, who knows if we end up being wrong and the new 'classic' game gets to be worse than we thought(Banjo-Kazooie NnB kept styles mostly intact, but changing the gameplay killed the series AND Rare's name)? No whining will get a possibility out of the way. And it's totally fine if one thinks Skylanders isn't a part of the series. Just like how we make up the 'eras' of franchises, what makes a certain part of the series or the franchise itself is different for everyone.Problem is causing internet fights over something you don't even have control over because reality gets in the way of your perfect ideas for it.

^This. Yes, all of this.

Haha, but this is technically a quibble, so... :D And, um, I hate to tell you this but Mario wouldn't exist without Donkey Kong. Quote:
Really, that's me, too. I like LoS, just not for any of the reasons anyone else does. :D I had a few years where I was too big in the fandom and I projected a severe dislike for nasty fans onto the games themselves, but that's passed (thankfully). I don't see those people anymore and nobody remembers me, so it's all good. :) Quote:

Nah, quibbling is just kind of like nit picking (but maybe a bit nicer). I quibble all the time on these forums. :D
This is very true. But, as DK wouldn't exist without Mario (in a roundabout way), today Spyro wouldn't exist anymore without Skylanders. It's kind of a weird oroborus. |

The industry is a cruel but also mystical (if you could call it that) place. But really time will tell and the investment from higher ups will make the call if they will take the chance of bringing it back. For now, I'm enjoying what we have and glad that a character that we appreciated is still living in this harsh medium.

Yeah, that's pretty much how UB Funkeys ended. I don't know, we'll just see and hope for the best. And I DO understand that it'd be marketing issues, not IDEAS, that would cause Skylanders to stop. I just don't get Activision sometimes. |

You just said the problem were ideas. The games apparently suck according to your weird opinions on a perfect game that should happen because it's the only way the franchise will be popular again.
If you didn't post every five seconds about something along those lines,I wouldn't have even responded with that,Loco, but it's getting to the point of being ridiculously obnoxious.

At this point, I forgot about any earlier part of the conversation to know that I said that. I didn't bother to look through the conversation again to see what was there. I don't know, I just like to talk online more than I like to do homework now. |

That truly matters to the conversation. I'd love to use the right term for what you're doing, but this isn't Stuff and Nonsense.
I'll just assume everything you say from now own is a load of bullcrap if you're doing this out of boredom/procrastination, because I don't want to waste time with this kind of attitude.
