Whenever I post anything creative online there's a voice in the back of my head that's like 'what if you're just like Chris Chan and terrible and completely self unaware that you're terrible'.
Do you also get similar anxiety and how do you deal with it?

i suffer from real bad crippling anxiety on a daily basis from what others would laugh at and probably call stupid so i wont post here but the only way i know how to deal with it is smoking cigarettes so that is pretty much how i do that

Yes, actually. I was literally thinking about this yesterday.

Some advice I got once was that everybody has their own unique voice/style, so try not to compare yourself to others and just be your authentic self. Create art that you would like to experience and if you post it online be proud of it and maybe it will speak to someone and they'll be thankful you posted it.

As for Chris chan, most of her issues online comes from how she acted towards other people and how she responded to the trolls. If she was quiet and did her own thing on the corner of the internet making Sonichu comics that didn't have any controversial material in them, we wouldn't be nearly as concerned with "being like Chris chan"

i get the same vibes and i coped with it by quitting being creative since it absolutely killed my passion

getting rejected that often means it has to be something fundamental right?

oh and on chris chan or whatever if you were like chris chan i think we would have noticed by now and you would would have been alerted to it hard to be like chris chan dude is cray

also vespi i have this faint memory of i think reading something you sent me once a story or something you seemed to be really talented to me its a shame you quit

There are always going to be people out there that do not like you for who you are or what you create, even if you do everything "right." It is best to simply do it for yourself.

yeah well giving up on something im talented at after realizing it doesn’t make me happy seems to be a theme in my life

if i had a nickel for every time that happened id have three nickels. not a lot but weird that it happened thrice

im genuinely sorry to hear that cant really argue against it tho because its not so different in my life im supposedly super talented especially at art but where does the happy part happen hm idk nickel part made me laugh more than it should have

This is a good point, Chris Chan would only be a tiny internet person if they didn't respond. Thank you for this post.

my solution to this problem is to have a bad memory. so i develop an oc or something like that. post art of them. and then forget about them for several months

^thats actually pretty neat to be honest
