Same. It also doesn't seem to like it when I type in something with an apostrophe on mobile, because it won't show me any results at all. It's not the only search engine that has a hard time with the "mobile apostrophe", but most others at least say "Did you mean (same thing with a different apostrophe)?" This is the only one I've used that flat-out doesn't recognize any phrase with one.

tvtropes only gets worse with time, ublock or not, and i wish it wasn't the only good promoting/discovery tool of its kind

they legit had some racist tropes as the featured articles of the day recently

i feel like tvtropes is kinda sexist in a way too. there are a lot of tropes that are gender specific for, like, absolutely no reason. tropes that could easily apply to x character but it doesn't count because this character is male, and this trope only applies to female characters, even though it describes him to a T. and then there are male and female versions of certain tropes that are separated by gender for no other reason but idk cooties i guess.

this just describes tv tropes dont it who even runs that place i actually dont know anything about them but that kind of thing doesnt surprise me to be honest

also this theres everything wrong with the place also doesnt help to me that there is a trope for literally everything that exists i dont think that was supposed to be the point i thought tropes were something that repeatedly shows up across media now its like “breathing” this trope is about when someone breathes

They have a trope name for that - People Sit On Chairs. Which is never followed because the power users get to choose what's a trope or not!

But "fingerless gloves for outcasts" ain't a trope, sorry that's gotta go, let's just nuke every sentence that has it from orbit

my other problem with it is that im pretty sure people in all sorts of narrative-based industries use it. i feel like it's the wikipedia for troupes. a good starting point, but not super reliable. pretty sure it's run by volunteers mostly as well. if youre in some sort of industry and benefitting off their work, you should be PAYING these people

definitely a wikipedia for troupes but i do have a question my uneducated self what kind of industry would benefit from the place you think? reading this post is sad like "What PosisblY cOUld thIS Site HeLp wITH"

this topic actually kind of made me want to bring back Erikas post your real life character tropes topic maybe i will with a more real to life take on me
