The argument against this is that electoral college allows people who don't follow politics to not screw up voting. But I'm pretty sure that's a strawman made up by political parties. But at the same time if we do a popular vote then cities will run the country and towns would be politically useless.

yesterday i caught a skunk that was going after my chickens. i had no plan on how i was actually going to move its trap without getting skunked. somehow some way i got it onto the trunk of my car and i was off. i gave that skunk a once in a lifetime experience lol. i drove with it like that to a game land and i let it go
