she uses fire in the first game she appears, is named after fire, bursts harmlessly out of lava, is black and red. is a fire dragon. they just backpedaled for no reason other than to give her different elements from spyro in dotd.

I never saw Cynder as a wind dragon, I see her more easily as a "shadow" dragon before wind. But sans makes up a really good point I never even thought of before

supposedly Cynder's design was more based on birds and Maleficent. I mean if you take Cynder's more adult form and a Skydancer, I see where wind dragon may have came from. Though with some corrupt powers, probably morphed more than just the color.
