Let me explain what I mean, while there are tons of atrocious T and M rated games, I did noticed the vast majority of shovelwares are marketed to families and kids, the great franchises of the past got increasingly dumbed down, made too easy or disappeared(Spyro, Jak and Daxter, Rayman) so aside for first party like Mario or Zelda, there’s not that many great games left on the E/E 10+ side due to extreme casualization and homogenization. Do I like that situation, not one bit but I remember as a kid/teenager that there were a lot more great games in those rating than now when it’s almost a synonym of it’s too easy, dumb writing(WOFF and KH aside for a long time until sequelitis).

Mock me all you want but admit a fact, there are less franchises than before and what’s left is for the most part a shadow of it’s former self, even T/M rated titles are drastically lowered in quality compared to PS2 era, for RPGs fans like me it’s even worse. Do we get less licensed cash in, sure, I’m glad that’s gone but please add a difficulty option to Pokémon or create a more veterans/SMT audience oriented spinoff destined for the kind who want an harder, deeper experience if you clearly don’t want your old fanbase in your current games.

That AAA games suck today compared to in the past due to mtx, pay2win and attracting mainstream audiences and that you should rather play more indies, that if mobile is the future, then we need a second crash, that modern Pokémon is way too easy, it always was but now it's braindead, that Activision would rather make a new Skylanders than a Spyro title even if Crash 4 looking amazing prove that it would likely work, that I'm a fan of PS2 era platformers like Jak and Daxter and we are no longer getting them, that there are more games than ever, more franchises for sure but they increasingly feel homogenous. I play tons of games but my genre, RPGs was clearly damaged in modern times especially when I see what FF became.

What I see is happening, games are not a passion, singleplayer experiences are becoming rarer and it obey trends so it feel samey and copy pasted.

i mean both points are kinda valid. i didn't mind the original face because you see it for like 20 minutes of the game but it was a pretty ugly model. the new one was probably made to be used for future games as it is probably easier to mo cap with.
