Draikon continued writing, having done enough research to know some minotaurs were treated as slaves, and based on what the young one just said, they very own captain was one such slave in the past. He still believed they were bounty hunters, but their goals were objects instead of creatures. He didn't dwell upon it though. Since Draikon was a scientist and not a reporter, he stopped his questions there. There was only one thing he wanted.
"Thank you. I sincerely hope Aelinon is treating you with the proper respect. Keep up the good work and my best wishes to you and your people. Now then, it's within my job to make sure your mighty society gets treated properly... and that includes within a genetic level. No matter the disease, I can make sure a cure is created. Take some of my cards and give it to your friends. It also has my direction. If you or one of your friends decide it, go to my place and let me take some samples of you. The more I know about your anatomy and genetic, the better I can do my job." Draikon said kindly as he handed the cards, briefly taking his hands as he did and picking up some of his loose fur, pretending some got on him without intention. It seemed minotaurs shed a little, which was better than have to yank a hair. It was just in case the minotaurs rejected his offer like Maverick has done too many times. A hair was better than nothing.

The scientist was ready to leave when Risar's overwhelming size caught his attention. But his attention wasn't kept on him. His companion was like nothing he has ever seen. Draikon approached without hesitation.
"And who do we have here? A baby dragon? Wait... no way. You look like a dragon, but you're no dragon at all, are you?" Draikon began to say, having enough experience to tell a dragon from one that resembled it. Whatever Icestorm was, he was no dragon, even if his physical appearance could easily fool people. He then realize what he did.
"Oh, pardon my sudden approach captain. I assume you are the captain, yes? Mind if I speak a few words with your little companion?" Draikon asked politely, showing the proper respect and speaking eloquently. Just when he thought he had everything he wanted, Icestorm appeared.

“Shade has made much progress. Orion has told me they have moved him to a cell with a view and he is treated better by the guards than he was. Heh he is even escorted by fewer guards and without chains. He misses you. Maybe you and Maverick could go and visit him?” Neo said.

"That's one of my plans for the week." Angora replied, really missing the big idiot. She had spend far more time with Veris than she has with Shade, yet she felt like her bond was still stronger with him. Perhaps because he was one of her first friends? Or maybe it was just cause she saved him from the evilness he had before. It was something that stayed with Angora.

"You know, Veris is not going to like it." she said after a brief pause, believing that if Shade earned his freedom, she was going to spend more time with him and reduce the one with Veris. Despite having his own family, who have left him to finish the sentence, Shade made it too many times clear that he rather be with her and Maverick, giving them priority over his own blood family.

The 'father and son' Minotaur pair offered an respectful nod, taking-but-not-explicitly-accepting the man's cards and consequent offer. Their glances briefly turned towards each other and then towards Risar/Icestorm, observing the man's new course of action. "He is not mine to command, but you may speak to him if he so desires to speak with you.," Risar said turning to the stranger and speaking in a respectful-- if just a tad crude -- mannerism. As he spoke, a gold nose ring could be seen as well as what looked like at least one intact linking of chain. It didn't seem to bother the large bipid, implying that he had at least lived with it for some time and had perhaps just grown used to it.

Meanwhile...Quote:
Raclaw and Chester happily followed, leaving their enlarged room and the cozy bed that it contained. "Another day, another lost soul to help.," Raclaw responded proud of Latnok's job and his own 'job' within that job. He would never be an official Guardian (being neither human nor antro), but he was happy to help in whatever way he could. Some of the base still internally compared him to that of a 'mere' dog albeit a working dog now-- and perhaps they weren't entirely wrong, as insulting as it may be. Others saw him as an extension of Latnok (a living tool to use), while others yet recognized him as being his own 'person' and choosing to help the Guardian by his own free will. It was progress at the very least and at least most of the Guardians in the base had grown used to his presence over the years. The harness-- Raclaw having been seen on/off in it --only reinforced the idea of Raclaw being 'lesser' to some, while his having a choice in the matter reinforced that he was 'more' to others. It was an contradiction and yet... it almost wasn't unexpected.

As Latnok, Raclaw, and Chester walked towards their usual grounds-- some Guardians offered *all* of them a friendly greeting; with one (a cook) even offering one more towards Raclaw. He had to admit, he hadn't ever expected to have to serve a variety of meals in a bowl as if serving both an man and an canine at the same time. And yet.. here he was often doing just that. By now, the fur dragon even had his own bowl not to be confused with the bowls they used for the hellhounds and the like. He wondered what it was like to live alongside and hell even ride such an sentient unique creature. He wasn't the most experienced or the highest ranked Guardian, but perhaps one. Except-- Raclaw was one of a kind. Possibly the last according to the others; still at least least he got to be witness to such a miracle. And regardless he still had a job to do.

'Enough starring. Can't be late, can't be late..,' the Guardian/cook thought before continuing presumingly to the kitchen. 'The last. No matter-- I have Latnok and Chester and friends. That is enough.," Raclaw thought as he offered a friendly polite smile. There were rumors going about he himself became a rumor or an urban myth to some since aligning himself with the Guardians. Some outside of the base saw him (and Latnok) more often, while some only caught a glimpse of him maybe once or twice in a city such as Redwater for instance. Being a rare creature was both a blessing and a curse at times.

Huntress talked with Random and took more sign language lessons from him as the time went by, ignoring any possible romantic advances thrown at her. She would sometimes ask about Maverick, though not too often to avoid suspicions or misunderstanding, and she would always get the same answers. No matter who she asked, Maverick simply seemed to be loved by everybody, and not a criminal at all. That couldn't be right. No man was so different from their parents. Was it caused by Maverick's faun heritage? Perhaps it was time to research more about them... and find out who his mother was...

"I see..." Draikon said as he took notes yet again, raising an eyebrow almost in amusement.
"My apologies. It's just that there has been more creatures entering Aelinon after the Ishulgite's defeat. I am Draikon, a scientist looking to make sure all non humans have a better life, socially AND genetically." the scientist said as he gave another one of his cards. He has heard of kaijus, but they were usually humongous, and not exactly looking like dragons. It was impossible for Icestorm to be this small at that age.
"I would ask you many questions, but I wouldn't know where to begin. Visit my place when you have the chance. It's written in the card. We can talk there, and with your permission, I can make you a few exams to make sure everything is alright, and keep it that way." Draikon finished, unable to think of a proper question at the time unlike the young minotaur earlier. Ever since the Giardians arrived and defeated the dastard Ishulgites, there were so many creatures in the city. An arsenal of potential for the older scientist.

The unusual circumstances surrounding Raclaw never truly escaped Latnok's thoughts - Raclaw was, after all, much different from the wyverns riders typically flew on, or the hellhounds, they would typically work with. However, he wouldn't be the only Adjudicator with something unusual about him; it would be something that others would accept gradually if they hadn't already. He had more important things to take care of; such as the well-being of his friends and those within the Salvation House.

Veris, meanwhile, settled into a nap. Angora's replacement' would be there by the next day. As was typical by now, he probably wouldn't like them anywhere near as much as he liked the original.
But what was he to do? Angora needed some kind of reprieve, or so his human told him. It was something he had to reluctantly accept.

Angora had managed to fall asleep by now after much pondering on what to do in the week, being very tired to keep thinking. The bed was comfortable enough, and she usually managed to get a deep sleep often, with little to no dreams during the slumber. The few nightmares she still had were either about the Ishulgites taunting her current life and rejected opportunity or a wyvern capturing her and successfully devouring her, although she has grown so indifferent about such nightmares that they weren't enough to wake her and interrupt the precious sleep. Lately, most of her nightmares were about Shade and Veris fighting for after the former's release. She was still quite nervous about how the wyvern would feel once the dragolet was free and wanted to spend time with her, but she already spent years with him, spoiling and pampering him to no end and even facing deadly threats at every corner just for his sake. He would just have to be comprehensible as he has been doing all this time with her weekly breaks.

Draikon has gotten curious about the cargo, which Risar seemed to be protecting vehemently, but he didn't want to come as pushy or anxious about it, so he made no attempts to look, believing he would find out sooner or later. If it was something big, the news were going to spread like wildfire in the city of Redwater. Pleased with his progress, Draikon left, proceeding to his original destination. Maverick was someone who was quite popular around the city, not only for his unique heritage, but also because successful stand. Not to mention the fact that he had a wild dirt buffalo as a mount. The elderly scientist knew by now he had a family with the mermaid. Such offsprings would be worth looking at as well...

With the over-curious Draikon gone-- Risar continued on his way with the smaller Icestorm in toll. He took a satisfied glance on his crew before making his way into the docks and the city at large. "You know-- the dynamic between Latnok and Raclaw always intrigued me. Risar wonders just where that dynamic went; rather they continued to see each other as just friends or rather any owner/pet aspect led them to some sort of ultimate balance. Perhaps Raclaw found more there than he ever would have on his own. An owner, a friend, a lifelong companion-- I will never allow myself to be owned again, but I can see why one such as Raclaw would find such an offer so.. appealing.," the Minotaur said resuming their previous discussion. Indeed, he once found such a life attractive. To test the finest wines, to fight for the entertainment of one, to live what was considered a good life for what had become of his people-- he may have left that life, but he held no grudge against his once master.

Meanwhile-- Latnok and Raclaw ultimately reached the great outdoors; the salvation house was either a few hour walk or a much shorter flight. And that meant pulling out the harness 'for Chester's sake.' He allowed the Guardian to begin putting it on him; going through the motions of what had become a regular exercise on their 'commute' to work. The harness had felt *different* upon when they had first tested it; it wasn't like the collar which he had his whole life. To 'own' a dragon's back was a step above merely collaring or occasionally riding bareback. It was a next step and one which they both took in stride; the harness was easy to get used to and ultimately allowed for more control and greater comfort (for the riders) when they needed it the most. And like his preexisting harness ring or now-covered collar, he couldn't complain about it not complimenting his coat. Although it was no wonder why the 'dog dragon' (as some thought of him) looked good in leather...

After many distractions, Alana was finally pestered enough to do her own homework. Meanwhile, Maverick was bringing his wife some brochures, showing her different jobs.
"Mira mi amor, I think these jobs will work better for Angorita. What do you think?" he started to ask, having tried for months to get a different job for her after being scared half to death after finding out about the bites, but before Ilasi could answer, there was a knock on the door. Maverick left the brochures on the table for Ilasi to see and answered the door.
"Greetings my good man. Name is Draikon. Scientist looking for the better life of non humans around Aelinon, both socially and genetically." Draikon introduced himself, getting tired of the same greeting, but wanting to remain polite. Maverick recognized him.
"You... I know who you are. You are that scientist who has wanted a blood sample." Maverick said, Draikon leaving a picture of himself once so that Maverick could recognize him if he ever decided to come.
"Señor, lo siento if I rejected your offer so many times. I just... get skeptical around needles. I'm... alright I can say it. Kinda a coward that way." Maverick admitted, having been in sword fights and such, but ironically couldn't stand a needle. He knows the scientist meant well, but he just couldn't go through it.

But something else he said caught Draikon's attention, or more so, his ears.
"No se preocupe señor. Es perfectamente seguro. Yo me encargo de que no duela y todo salga bien. Usted... e incluso sus hijos pueden venir. Me harían un gran favor. A mí y quizás a los faunos si todavía existen." Draikon replied, much to Maverick's shock. This man knew perfect Spanish. But how? Although come to think about it, Draikon did look like an old man despite the lack of white hair. Perhaps he had more than enough time to learn? Or maybe he was Spanish to begin with?
"Don't act so surprised. I know different languages in order to communicate better with different people. I don't want to pressure you, but please think about it. Fauns, satyrs, centaurs, nymphs, giants, pegasus, griffins, all marvelous creatures of the past Aelinon. Some still exist. Others nothing is certain. But you have descendance of one of them. So at least think about it." Draikon said, about to give one of his cards but found out to his frustration he had none left, having distributed them among the minotaurs and Icestorm.

Having nothing to give him, Draikon left, hoping that Maverick kept some of his past letters, or at least memorized where he lived after the many times he insisted before. Draikon left quite an impression on Maverick. Not only did he knew Spanish, but the man seemed fascinated by many of the mythical creatures Maverick has read about before. Some he has seen, met and even befriended, like dragons, minotaurs, and at least one troll, but the rest he has only heard about. Not only that, but Draikon finally had the iniciative to come in person and share his views. Perhaps it was time to consider his offer after all this time?

Ilasi shared Maverick's concerns about Angora's job - it had proven to be potentially injurious, just like she had initially feared. She never was too comfortable around wyverns, though she grew to tolerate them when she had to work around them for one reason or another.
Such concerns would, at least for the moment, be put on the back burner while the coonversation between Maverick and Draikon played out. Ilasi remained extremely wary of this man who seemed to have a bit of an obsession with her husband - but remained silent, at least until he left.
It took a few moments after he left before Ilasi spoke. "...are we sure he can be trusted?" she asked. He certainly did seem like a well-studied professional, with the multiple languages he knew... someone who would have a lot to lose if they were caught doing something wrong here, of all places. Still, it made her feel very uneasy...

Upon arrival, Latnok quickly removed the harness from Raclaw, in what had become a rather routine action. Though much of his work was done at the base, there were also matters which he would often need to attend to in person at individual branches of the Salvation House. The children especially loved Raclaw - all the allure of a dog with the intrigue of a dragon was a natural recipe to garner their attention.

Since he was already out, Draikon took the time to do some minor grocery shopping after he left Maverick's home. It was certainly interesting to see him so up close. He seemed perfectly human, and it was the overwhelming hair on his arms the only thing that gave any indication that he wasn't entirely human. He could shave it off and pass as a pure one easily. Draikon wasn't going to force him or his kids to come to his place to do all the tests he wanted, but he was planning on using a bit of psychology to try and convince them.

After the shopping, Draikon returned to the solitude of his home, getting to work after a quick snack. Everybody knew that some of his inventions and experiments were often either bought or donated to Tal Rojas so that the king could use it for his arsenal or anything else that could be needed, though it still remained a secret what and how exactly did he do his experiments. Despite being cranky when his privacy was invaded or when people pestered him, Draikon has never hurt anyone in the years he have lived there, nor did he have an ounce of criminal history, so most people just let him to work in private like he always wanted to do.

Still, it made her feel very uneasy...

Maverick shrunk his shoulders, not certain on what to think.
"He doesn't look dangerous. Maybe a bit... annoying with how much he has insisted on the matter? But he does seem like a nice enough man. If I know something about scientists, is that when they get something in their heads, it's nearly impossible to get the idea out. At least... that's what I've heard. Fauns are probably extinct by now, and even a hybrid like me is rare. Who knows? Maybe there are people right here in Redwater who may be part faun and just don't know it. But I guess since I'm the only one registered with the ancestry he doesn't want to miss such opportunity." Maverick theorized, believing that Draikon's obsession was the result of wanting the chance to study a gene that is likely disappearing forever. Something like that he guessed was bound to make any real scientist curious. The faun gene was becoming harder to tell due to being heavily mixed up with humans, to the point Maverick even started to believe there will be no traces of it in the future. He wanted to believe there were many faun hybrids out there and that it was only a matter of their physical traits not being as noticeable as with him.

Though Ilasi was still wary, Maverick was making enough sense for her to put her concerns aside. "Well, you do have a fair point," she said. "He's probably looking to sate his curiosity, just like any other scientist... still, we should at least make sure he's fully forthcoming with all of the details of his studies. Who his sponsors are and all of that." That last point brought back memories of the Ishulgites - a society which, among other things, was highly dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge of life, often forsaking ethics in order to further those goals.

Maverick understood her point of view. He doubted Draikon had bad intentions, otherwise Aelinon would be pursuing him given how merciless they were with criminals.
"Buena idea. Yeah, good idea. Do a bit of research before making the decision. I can ask around the neighborhood where he lives. Or maybe even ask a soldier. Somebody has to know something." Maverick commented, believing a scientist with such goals was was bound to have some notoriety. He was about to tell Ilasi Draikon was also interested in the kids, something he let him know in Spanish earlier, but decided not to mention it for now, not wanting to worry her further.

While it was still rather early, Maverick wanted to sleep before schedule so that he could be ready for Angora tomorrow. But there was still time to do other things.
"No te preocupes mi amor. All will be fine. You'll see. Anyway, going to help Alana with her homework now. Don't want her to get distracted. And also prepare Angorita's room for tomorrow." Maverick stated, giving a soft kiss to his wife and going to their daughter's room, who was indeed distracted as suspected, practicing her water magic. She quickly grabbed her book and pencil to pretend she has been doing her homework all this time, but Maverick still spotted her. He wasn't angry though, and sat besides her to help her, knowing how brilliant his daughter was and how amazing her grades could be if she wasn't a bit lazy and quite the troublemaker. Tyrus was more dedicated, so he usually didn't need the help.

Raclaw offered a smile as a couple kids ran up to him and one even began briefly petting his side. They then soon noticed Chester as well, whom was merely icing on the cake for what was already an adorable dog-dragon of a cake. It seemed that kids and other curious folk were bound to be attracted to the trio, regardless of time and place. But they would have work to attend to...

"Hmm. Risar can't blame him-- it's not, it wasn't a bad life. And I only wish the best for him.," Risar responded as the continued to walk/talk to their destination. The salvation house; they were finally there. As Risar knocked on the door and explained who he was and what he was carrying, it naturally garnered the attention of the staff and Guardians within.. an egg wasn't anything to scoff at and the possibilities within. The Minotaur explained where he had gotten it from, how it was something not that of a scaled creature, and the original seller had had trouble getting it to hatch. After being told that it would take some time to figure it out and that he should return the following day if he was curious, he offered a nod/his thanks before departing the salvation house and offering Icestorm an opportunity to stay the night at his Redwater-based home if the small dragon-type creature so desired.

And as day turned to night and night to day; the sun would soon rise once again. Risar would wake up in his bed in his own house-- he would need to check on his ship/his crew and their progress selling goods. And after that, he would need to/wanted to check on the egg at the salvation house. Perhaps they would at least know what it is. Perhaps it was something common or perhaps it could even help an endangered species. Only one way to find out...

Maverick had a hard time concealing sleep last night. He prepared Angora's room after helping Alana with her homework, with plenty of time to sleep afterwards, but Draikon's unexpected visit combined with the constant worry for his little friend gave him too much to think about. He caught his deep sleep eventually, but getting it so late meant he woke up a bit later than he usually did. He still had time to get to work, but not enough to help Ilasi prepare the kid's breakfast and lunches. He took a quick bath, put in some formal clothes and prepared to leave after grabbing his hyperspace bag, taking a loaf of bread and an apple to eat along the way.
"Lo siento mi amor. Hard night last night. I'll see you in the late afternoon. Tell Angorita her room is ready." Maverick explained, giving her a quick kiss before addressing to the kids.
"Nos vemos niños. Tyrus, remember to comb your hair. And Alana... behave." he said with a raised eyebrow, knowing how she was. She only gave a side glance. She didn't want to go to school today, wanting to be home when Anglra arrived, but she could always see her afterwards.

Angora's night was free of dreams and nightmares, yet like Maverick, she had a bit of trouble sleeping. Not as long as he did, but her sleeps weren't as deep as his. Nevertheless, she felt well rested enough, and after some breakfast, she grabbed some duck meat and headed to Veris' enclosure just like she promised. No wyvern attempted to lunge at her, but one in particular was glaring at her and making a chewing sound. Angora wanted to believe or at least pretend it was because of the meat she had on her hands and nothing else. After arriving, she entered Veris' enclosure without incidents.
"Morning big guy. Here I am, as promised. I brought you a little snack to kill some hunger while my replacement is here." Angora stated, making a habit of it so that the waiting wouldn't feel so long. She threw the duck meat in the air in front of him, knowing Veris always caught his meals with deadly precision even while in mid air. In the past, the wyvern would either put his tail in the way or grab her by the back of her robe to prevent her from leaving, but the ocassions were becoming less frequent. Angora knew that deep inside he still hated when she left for so long, but she was grateful that he was at least attempting to be more tolerant and comprehensible on the matter, especially after the two attacks.

Tyrus always found combing his own hair annoying... but he wasn't going to make a huge fuss of complying. Why did it matter how his hair looked? Maybe it was something he would figure out when he was older, though he doubted it. Besides that, he had to make the other preparations for school.
Ilasi already had some food prepared for Tyrus and Alana. In the time they were gone, she would do some more housework and studying. Being home alone was generally the most boring part of the day for her, but it was often relaxing enough, and she was still able to be reasonably productive.

Veris, as he had demonstrated so many times before, easily snapped the offered meat out of the air, before settling down with a bit of a frown. Angora was going to be leaving now... he knew he couldn't stop her, though he had tried before. He just had to wait patiently for her return. Here was to another boring week...

Angora initially felt awful leaving Veris for the entire week, but she was so use to it, she only felt a slight bit of sadness. She did have her own life to think about, plus other friends besides the wyvern. Since Veris head was lower with all his pouting, she took the moment to give him a little kiss on the snout.
"Cheer up Veris. The other caretakers may not pamper you, but they still take good care of you. Behave yourself and be good to them. See you in a week." Angora said, bidding him farewell and closing the door after leaving. As always, she was on high alert from the other wyverns. She was startled by a low growl from one of the cages, though the wyvern in question didn't have the hungry look. The beast was looking at her with a bit of curiosity and didn't try to snap at her. It felt weird, but good at the same time. Such a change of pace was always welcoming. She went to Godfather Sere's office to collect her usual pay. She had a slight raise after the attacks to compensate the danger of her job. She didn't know of any of the humans ever being attacked, but since she was a natural prey of wyverns, even the most trained dragons sometimes couldn't resist the temptation. As she left the office, she caught a glimpse of the infamous trio that was Latnok, Raclaw and Chester. She was always glad to see the furry companions, but the same couldn't be said about Latnok. She always waved at him too out of respect and politeness, though it was no mystery she still felt disappointed and a bit of a grudge with the way he treated her in the past. Not even with the years of working there and facing constant dangers did he do much efforts to befriend her, something that deeply saddened her.

The ride that would lead her to Redwater near where Maverick lived was ready. She knew he was likely working by now, but knew that Ilasi would be there to receive her. She got along quite well with Ilasi, and while the mermaid treated her better than ever, Angora wasn't so sure if they have become very good friends. Although her company was still pleasant and they did have a few girl talks from time to time.

As Maverick and the kids left their home to their respective destinations, the early bird Draikon was hard at work in his laboratory. Yesterday was a day of great progress, and he wanted to get to work right away. He didn't manage to get a hair of Maverick, having no loose hairs like the minotaur he interacted with, and since yanking it was too obvious, he rather waited for Maverick to arrive personally. Outside his house, there was the paperboy hard at work. After throwing the newspaper, Draikon briefly interrupted his work to see the news. It was almost literally the only thing that he allowed to be a distraction.
"Another Ishulgite fugitive caught. Poor bloke. All those years in the run only to be for nothing in the end. Oh dear Ishulgites. You had the right idea... just the wrong targets..." he said under his breath, cutting that part of the news and putting it in a drawer that had a lock on it, which was full of newspaper clips that had every Ishulgite news since the end of the war.

As the trio passed by the familiar troll-- Raclaw offered an friendly smile/respectful nod, although he sometimes wished that she and them could've developed a closer relationship. It didn't help that their schedules didn't entirely align, with Angora working on a week on/off week basis and himself/Latnok working on the daily. They of course had their free time, but it was rare for an Guardian and said Guardian's dragon to take so much time off at a time. The end result? They passed by each other and occasionally got to talk, but their different 'jobs' and Latnok's not wanting anything to do with Angora made anymore less than ideal. Even after all these years, neither party (Latnok or Angora) attempted to amend the situation. In any case, they would soon once again 'head to work' doing what they did best and what they loved to do; helping others and managing the various salvation houses.

Meanwhile in Redwater, Risar was awake and.. making breakfast. The smell of bacon and eggs would soon fill the room and the nose of a certain Icestorm, whom had a choice of either an comfortable chair or pillow on an window sill to sleep on. By now, Risar was fully dressed as he always was not long after getting out of bed. Him and Latnok were very similar in that regard, both 'men' used to their 'uniforms' of choice.

Angora did some thinking while mounting the wyvern that would take her to Redwater. Should she be the one making the first step? She knew she had too much pride... but so was Latnok. She doubted any of the, was going to make the first move. She tried to many times but was either too proud or too afraid of Latnok's potential and hurtful rejection. Their only hope... was Raclaw.

After reaching Redwater, Angora covered her face with her hood to prevent people from recognizing her. It took her almost an hour to reach Maverick's home. She knocked on the door.
"Morning!" she called from behind after knocking the door so Ilasi would know it was her, knowing how cautious the mermaid could be.

Elsewhere, Huntress had a rather restless night as well. She sent Random home after his failed attempts to take her to dinner and to prevent him from continuing flirting with her. That night, she preferred to sleep in the comfort of her own fortune, in the dark, damp cave where she kept it. Among the treasures there was a gold lamp said to be Armon Blakes' most prized possession back then. She never found anything special about it, and almost everything he had was made of gold, so she didn't understand what was the deal.

Icestorm soon awoke and smelled the familiar sent of bacon and eggs. He had been curled up in a comfy chair all night sense Risar gladly allowed him to stay the night. He eventually got up and headed to the kitchen. “Good morning!”

"Morning. Hungry?," Risar responded as he began to prepare a couple of plates. He found it interesting how Icestorm and even Shade back in the day eat off plates, whereas Raclaw (from what he had seen) more often than not eat out of a bowl. Knowing just how dog-like the young Fur Dragon was, perhaps it was simply easier for him or perhaps he was simply used to it. It was probably the latter considering just how capable the furred dragon was, but it mattered not. In any case, they would eat and then Risar would have an egg to check on-- erm one not intended for cooking purposes.

As Latnok, Chester, and the currently mounted Raclaw took to the skies in order to head to their own destination-- Raclaw wondered what curiosities would await them today. The salvation houses, by their very name, acted as a salvation or many creatures both bipedal and otherwise. It served mostly dogs and humans yes.. but they occasionally got others humanoid species or even the occasional odd pet left behind or abandoned. It was his hope that they might eventually discover or find a Fur Dragon, be it his parents or even just in general. Or failing that, at least they could give hope to some other endangered or rare species. If not their branch specially, then perhaps the other salvation houses by it Redwater or elsewhere...

Risar obliged-- placing a hot plate in front of Icestorm and sitting down in front of his own steaming plate. "One thing one learns how to do upon setting out on their own is cook. And although Minotaurs usually go for something meatier, there's something -classic- about the good 'ol bacon and eggs. I bet you didn't know that Risar could cook, did you?," the Minotaur somewhat jokingly asked as he held a slightly sturdier fork. "Once you're done, I am going to set out on a brief errand and then check on our egg if you don't mind accompanying me. Or if you prefer-- you can meet Risar there. Up to you.," he then said as he became to chow down on his own food. Anyone else might've simply sold the egg again to another buyer, but he wanted it (whatever *it* may be) to at least have a chance. If someone like Raclaw could find a good life under the Guardians, than perhaps they could help it at well.

"Ah-- thanks for the compliment. In that case, we're going to stop by the 'Raging Serpent' and see what progress was made on an ongoing deal with a local merchant. He specializes in a local metal and wishes to transport and sell his goods in foreign markets. And-- and he may have a small sample waiting for us or more specially me in person. Not many here get to see an Minotaur in person and that alone is worth some value *especially* to the rich and curious.," Risar responded inferring how his crew being primarily minotaurs probably played some part in their profits. Just Risar himself was a curious sight, with his god-gifted sword on his side and nose ring/chain implying an interesting past. And his mighty axes implied prowess and thus 'insurance' from pirates who would otherwise loot and privilege one's goods on the great seas. He would soon finish and let Icestorm finish before their departure on the streets.

Ilasi made a reasonable meal of fish and vegetables for Angora, anticipating her arrival. She was just putting the finishing touches on as Angora announced her arrival. She came to the door to answer, opening it gently.
"Welcome, Angora," Ilasi greeted, motioning her to come in. "I have some food prepared. Like always, please make yourself at home. Maverick and the children are currently out and about, with work and school."
Angora always helped pass the time when she was around. Ilasi usually used that time to do things like practice the violin - which she had gotten much better at.

Latnok gave Angora a typical courtesy greeting when he saw here, but no more. He was a busy man with bigger things to concern himself with - trying to form a friendship with Angora would be very low on his list of priorities.

"Thank you Ilasi." Angora responded, entering and taking in the scent of the freshly prepared food. The mermaid's cooking wasn't as good as Maverick's in her opinion, but it was decent enough. Trolls weren't usually picky, but Angora living far away from her kind made her quite different, even in food taste. While she still doubted she and Ilasi were the best of friends, she knew Maverick's wife greatly appreciated having her there. She at least gave her company and someone to talk to while the rest of the family was away.

As she sat on the table to await the plate, she took notice of the brochures. With the content, she already knew what was up.
"Ah, I see Maverick hasn't entirely given up on finding me another job. I wish he could stop already. I know he worries about me greatly, especially after those stupid wyvern's bites, but if only he could just trust me. I survived for years all by myself AND without magic. A few dumb predators are nothing." Angora declared, appreciating Maverick for loving her so much. Even with his own family, their friendship hasn't changed, although she did wished his overprotectiveness could've been toned down throughout the years. It did for a while... until those fateful bites.

"Or so he claims at least. The metal is supposed to be strong and unique to this area-- an ample opportunity for all parties involved. With any luck, we'll each have a consistent profit should it sell well in the markets we dock at. Among our other successful ventures.," Risar responded as he put up their plates. He opened the door to 'let' Icestorm out and the odd duo would soon head out to the streets. His home was somewhere in-between the heart of the city and the docks, while also being about equal walking distance to the arena distinct. He still took the time to watch a good fight from time to time.

MEANWHILE-- Chester watched a curious sight of an wild animal catching its prey from their birdseye perspective on the passing landscape. Raclaw's eyes briefly tracked the same scene and him remembering his own days 'in the wild'; he didn't miss them. He had never been a good hunter and would've more often than not starved had it not been for generous humans who at least wanted him to have a chance. It didn't matter how much 'freedom' or open land he had back in those days; he would've always been better off in the care of another or 'in captivity' as he now technically was. And he always knew that inside. "I wonder how that ex-city pack is doing after all these years.," Chester thought out loud. "I don't know. It depends on their than hunting skills, choice of hunting ground, and to a degree.. luck. The wild is by its very nature-- wild. You never know what to expect or if you'll even get a meal that particular day. I don't miss it and wouldn't trade what we have here together for the world.," Raclaw responded commenting on his own time in the wild.

As Raclaw, Chester, and Latnok flew over the wilds a parculer sene would be within view. It was a section of forest covered in ice and snow. Soon snow started to lightly fall. Down below was what looked like a cave made from ice with what looked like blood going into it.

Meanwhile Icestorm would follow Risar he would notice the arena. “I hope they don’t make poor Shade fight in there. He has such a gentle heart.”

In his laboratory, Draikon was working on his latest experiment... a fungus that was better at absorbing magic than hexphage itself. No such thing existed, or at least nothing like that has been discovered yet, so what Draikon did was to try make the hexphage mutate and better itself. He was not a magic user, so he would have no problem. Even with the hexphage, some magic user convicts could still use a little bit of it even with the hexphage on them, more particularly Ishulgite fugitives, so the mutated hexphage should prove useful. If king Seraos wanted this new concoction however, he would have to pay well. Although Draikon's experiments have served Aelinon well, they weren't getting any cheaper.

In Redwater, Huntress was returning to her old room to observe Maverick after leaving the solitude of her fortune. She was so desperate to catch the faun man in the act of something illegal that she was almost tempted to frame him for something so that he could be caught and her beloved king would know who he is... or rather, who his father was and what the two of them did together more than a decade ago. But Ilasi and the children... they didn't deserve any of it. But how could she catch Maverick then? Perhaps... it was time to approach the mermaid so that she would know what kind of... individual her husband was...

As they eventually approached the docks and the awaiting ship.. the younger Minotaur as seen before ran up to him. "Captain! Welcome back Captain--," he greeted perhaps overly so. "Relax , relax.. is your father around?," Risar responded as the older Minotaur as prevously seen soon noticed Risar. "Welcome back Captain.," he greeted with a familiar minotaur nod. Most definitely perhaps a minotaur trait. "How are the transactions going?," Risar then inquired as they exchanged various details. Sales seemed rather profitable although there were naturally some ups and downs; there was always some risk involved.

"And-- and what about the deal? About the metal?," Risar would then ask with a slight smile soon forming on the other Minotaur's face. "Ah Captain, now there's some good news. The seller-- the seller wishes to meet you, and you specificially. I'm not sure about your friend here, but the seller seems like the type to only be interested. He asked about you, but I told him that he would have to ask you himself. At his house/business. In the middle district. Anytime between now and eight.," the other minotaur filled Risar in the details. "What do you think? Do you still want to come along?," Risar then asked Icestorm awaiting a response.

In a pub near the beach, Sand Dune, Opium and Random were having a reunion. The times where the three of them were free of work at the same time was quite rare, so they made sure to enjoy it.
"Don't give up yet my dear Random. A dashing man like you is bound to have success with the beautiful lady eventually." Sand Dune encouraged, although almost in a teasing matter to make him laugh.
"Well the little lady is quite a puzzle. She doesn't react to my flirting like most women do. And Huntress? Why that of all nicknames?" Opium wondered, neither of them knowing about her real life. Although Opium has flirted with Huntress too, Random didn't pay it no mind, since he knew his friend did it out of playfulness and cassanova attitude rather than love or competitiveness.
"Well if you ask me, maybe she had bad experiences with men? She is not rude to you at least, but she certainly doesn't want to try seeing how a relationship would work." Sand Dune assumed, Huntress giving him that impression. He knew Random lost a wife and a son already. He loved Huntress very much despite her not reciprocating. Not yet at least. She could be his second chance.

Angora knew Ilasi was worried, and even though she appreciated not insisting like Maverick has, deep inside, would've wanted Ilasi to try convincing her too. While she still didn't intend to change jobs, she still looked at the brochures. One was for a wanted baker, which reminded her of the cookies she loved so much. But she knew almost nothing of it, but Maverick didn't seem to care as long as she was out of there.
"I know it's dangerous... especially for someone like me. To think wyverns eat trolls in the wild. I still can't understand why Veris chose to befriend me of all people. His instincts must be very surpressed, or he doesn't know. Or knows and doesn't care. It's sad actually. Maverick is not the only one being overprotective. Veris is so distant from the other wyverns because of the way they treat me. I don't think that's right. I tried once to be distant from him and I think he hated me for a while. I don't want him to feel that way. First Shady and now Veris. Oh, and Orion kinda counts I guess? And Raclaw... a little. All dragons. I can't befriend humans but dragons seem to like me a lot... when they don't want to eat me of course. I mean, what's the deal!?" Angora complained, doubting Ilasi would have a proper answer but still willing to listen to her opinion. She didn't even tell her about sort of befriending a few behemoths too, but decided to leave that subject for another time. Maverick's family didn't count since they weren't technically humans, and he was only one partially.

Previously, Latnok might've drawn his weapon before moving forward, but for now, he left his axe (the only weapon he was carrying that wasn't in his bag) on his belt. "We've helped many others," he announced, "and we can help you as well if you need it. Please, tell us what the issue is."

Maverick was on his stand, selling or exchanging things. It depended on how much people could afford what he had and if they could trade for something as good or even better than what they wanted. Today was moving far more than the last time, and he was quite certain he was going to leave his post late. It was a shame, cause it would've been better if today was the day he could've left earlier to see Angora. He looked at the time and could estimate she was at his house already.

Shortly afterwards, a customer who looked quite covered up approached him. It was getting cold, but maybe this was a bit too much? Little did he know it was Huntress in disguise. She wanted to go to Ilasi's house, but decided to take a detour to his stand to see what he was selling. She wanted to make sure everything was legal and that the prices were affordable, which she found to her disappointment it was. Everything was fine. Maverick even had a permit to sell there, which he showed to another customer earlier. Was this man really such a saint? Even after all these years and her failure to find evidence or clues to any potential wrongdoing, Huntress refused to believe that someone with Armon Blake's blood could be this good...

Angora smiled for a bit with the comment, glad that Ilasi thought that way. Perhaps they were indeed friends even if she wasn't so close to her like with Maverick, though granted it's because the friendship was far older.
"Well... it still will be nice to befriend... someone closer to my size. I always seem to be more lucky with creatures thousands of times my size and could gobble me up in a second if they desired." Angora said almost jokingly, exaggerating a bit with the dragon's size to better prove her point.
"Not necessarily human of course, but still someone smaller for a change. There is the puppy Chester. He is nice, but he barely has the time since he always hangs out with Latnok and Raclaw. Oh, and Icestorm. I remember him. We didn't talk much, but he was nice to me from the very beginning." Angora expressed, still remembering the little kaiju and wondering how he was. He was a dwarf among his species, just like her, and it made Angora regret not interacting with him more. He was quite secretive back then, but she could've at least tried to approach him more.

"My name is Raclaw.," Raclaw said soon noticing the change in temperature. "And this here is Latnok; he's an friend and an ally to creatures such as you and me.," the Fur Dragon then said. His bandana would hide his collar from view, but the harness and the creatures attached to said harness would be clearly visible to the unfortunately new unfortunately *abused* creature. Raclaw would appear to walk and move normally in the 'tack', as if he had grown used to wearing it. He was prepared to no doubtingly face questions about such gear and such riders; hunters no doubt presented a very negative image of what it meant to be harnessed to the poor creature. And kind humans like Latnok were-- unfortunately --the exception rather than the rule.

At the docks, one of the kids picked up the ball again in excitement. "Thanks Mr. Dragon!!," he shouted as the other kid whispered something into his ear. "Say Mr. Dragon-- are you that walking bull's dog or something?," he then asked seemingly relaying the question. Risar's expression turned to slight annoyment; the kid's question not insulting Icestorm but getting awfully close to what was also considered an grave *insult* to his own kind.. especially those who were once enslaved as he once was. "Kid-- take my advice. Call us what we are; Minotaurs. And to answer your question, he is a friend and I hold no claim over him.," Risar than said before non-verbally encouraging Icestorm to move on. The kid didn't say the *exact* word (as was once spoken in a bar), but had at the very least phased the question rather poorly. They clearly weren't fully informed about either Minotaurs or Dwarf Dragons.

The snow bird growled in response not trusting Latnok and Raclaw to come closer. “Don’t come closer!” He warned. The air temperature seemed to drop a few more degrees and the snow outside started to fall harder. It finally came into full view it was totally white excep for the wing tips, beak, and claws which were ice blue. “He winced in pain from his injuries and had to use his good wing to keep himself up.

Ilasi never became too familiar with Icestor; she knew little about him, besides him being dismissed from the ship, only to be taken aboard once again.
She wish she knew a better way to help Angora; to find her some more company she might enjoy. There were goblins, who were about her size, but they had their own issues, and weren't exactly known for being bright.
"You will certainly have more opportunities in the future," she said. "After all, we did meet during our time out."

Latnok kept his distance as requested. He was there to provide support as needed, but, for the most part, allowed Raclaw to do most of the talking, the fur dragon naturally being more suited to that sort of thing. For now, he activated a heating spell to keep himself and his companions warm - he was more concerned for Chester, whose fur wasn't as thick.

In his laboratory, Draikon was finishing up the new and improved hexphage. It took him almost six months to cause the mutation he desired, but now, it was time to test it. In a jar with holes, there was a sprite, fairy like creatures made almost entirely by magic. Unlike fairies though, they couldn't talk, although they had similar intelligence, and what they couldn't speak, they expressed with their hands and face. And the little glowing lady was very, very afraid. Although sprites were extinct almost everywhere, they were thriving in a reserve a few hundred miles away from there, and unfortunately for them, they were the perfect test subjects for scientists like Draikon.
"Oh don't worry little thing. It's for science. It's for the greater good. Trust me." Draikon assured, grabbing a small dose of the mega hexphage and pouring it in the jar with a needle through one of the holes. Unlike the real hexphage, this new mixture was a mist of microscopic spores that could enter the pores of the body. Draikon chose to make the new hexphage could reproduce, but only outside the body, fearing that if they both feed and reproduced inside, it could kill the host, given how much stronger they were. The sprite coughed for a while, indicating it's quick effectiveness. It seemed to be working, but soon, it looked as it it was having a seizure attack. It was killing it. Fortunately, Draikon was prepared. He had build a machine that absorb and attracted the mist towards it, whether it was outside or inside the body.

Writing down the results, Draikon wondered what went wrong. Was it too much for the sprite in particular? They were made almost entirely of magic after all, so perhaps the new hexphage attacked them more savagely because of it. But what if it was the same for other, not as magical creatures? He needed something, or someone else for the test...

Angora remembered well the first time they met, and how she fed her that apple in her times of inprisonment. Though she also remembered how she almost doomed the possibility of traveling to the Enduring Legacy. The last part she rather forget however, knowing it wasn't in bad faith. She, the ugly little troll, still had some true friends despite everything, some humanoids, some gigantic. She almost mentioned the behemoths, but still decided to leave the matter for another time. She instead changed the subject.
"Yeah. I remember. Now look at everything that has happened. You and Maverick... with kids. Who would've guessed? How are they anyway? They are not being bullied or anything, are they?" Angora asked, knowing that children with their unique heritage was bound to get undesired attention. She knew humans too well, and even children could be nasty. It was as if humanity needed something to judge, and was afraid Tyrus and Alana could provide just that.

For now, he activated a heating spell to keep himself and his companions warm - he was more concerned for Chester, whose fur wasn't as thick.

"Please-- please let us help you, let me help you.," Raclaw began to say while also using his senses to get a feel as to how the snow bird was feeling. Fear. Immense fear; fear of being captured or killed no doubt. "I know what this must look like to you, I know what I must look like to you. I am not here to hurt you nor capture you nor am I being forced to be here. This.. this is me, wanting to help and wanting to help undo whatever damage may have been done to you. Please-- let me take a look. And my partner; he may be able to least patch you up. He may be able to help mend your wounds, but you have to let us try. You are not the only creature abused by humans. We recognize that and we only want the same thing, to help undo that damage.," he then said being very careful in his choice of wordage. Chester remained quiet, not interfering with the operation.

Meanwhile at the docks, Risar continued onwards alongside Icestorm and eventually approached what looked like a combination of house and workshop somewhere between the docks and the heart of the city. An man could be seen working on what seemed like an exotic blade and it had a particular shine to it, a shine not seen on most blades of its type. "Tall structure, horns of a bull, permanent nose ring, I do believe-- I don't suppose you are Risar of the Raging Serpent? Hmm..?," the man said now looking up at Risar. "And you're not alone, you brought a friend. And just who you might be my young lad?," he then immediately asked now noticing and referring to the small Icestorm. The man had clearly done his research on Minotaur culture (although perhaps not enough), but also very clearly hadn't seen or encountered an Dwarf Kaiju in his lifetime. Risar made no immediate comment and opted not to answer for Icestorm. Icestorm could say as much as little as he wanted to, such were his own prerogatives.

The snow bird relaxed a little. “You promise not to attack me?” He then rested on his belly as the temperature soon started to rise again and the snow outside soon stopped. “You may approach but the human cannot.”

Meanwhile at the docks. “I am Icestorm. Long time friend of Risar. I’m a dwarf Kaiju to correct you my good man.”

At the market, Draikon was looking for something that could help his experiments. He has seen Maverick working here from time to time, but he never let his presence known and always kept a distance from his stand so the faun man wouldn't spot him and confuse his presence with spying. Despite looking around, nobody had a creature, or any artifact with enough magic to test his hexphage mist. There were only two options. Either doing it illegally with the black market, or... get a special permission to test his concoction in one of the prisoners or whatever magical creature the Aelinonian soldiers had captured. He wanted to keep his record clean, some chose the second option. He headed to the behemoth stables a few miles away. Only the most elite members of society and the military could ride them. Wyverns were also expensive, but far more affordable. However, something about riding wyverns or any kind of dragon... disgusted him. He always refused their services and rather choose a behemoth as a taxi, even though ironically, most of them didn't like the old man for some reason.
"Good afternoon sir. I need a ride to Tal Rojas. Permit for the new experiment that will certainly please the king." Draikon assured, being well known by most soldiers. Some didn't treat him with much importance despite the great services his work provided. Others were simply creeped out by him.

At the market, Draikon was not as covered as he had thought. Someone there recognized him.
"That scientist..." Huntress whispered, having seen the notorious man several times in the past when he was more open to the world. His secrecy was something that came almost out of nowhere, and while Huntress didn't suspect him of any wrongdoing like she did Maverick despite his questionable methods, something about him... changed. He looked quite good despite his age. But there was something else amiss about him. Huntress didn't give it much importance after a while though, dismissing the thought as only a matter of not remembering him so well due to the all the years that have passed. It was quite a miracle she managed to spot him given how little he comes outside.

"I-- I promise. I'm just going to approach slowly... You can trust me...," Raclaw spoke in a calming manner as he could already feel some of the pain of the creature. Latnok could of course feel what he felt, but that was an constant that didn't need mentioning. "Where does it hurt?," he then gently spoke again he began to visually inspect the injured bird. His bandana and riding harness could be seen in closer detail as he scanned the poor thing for its injuries.

*Meanwhile--*
"Icestorm the Dwarf Kaiju, hmm? Well-- it's a pleasure to meet you; I suppose the dwarfism explains the size difference. Come on in. Come on in..," the man said opening the door to the internal portion of his combined home/business structure. "You know, you can tell a lot about a person from how they act to what they wear. For instance-- your friend, Risar, keeps his shoulders well covered when he doesn't otherwise need the extra protection. This tells me that he's covering some, a tattoo perhaps or something of a more permanent nature. And as for yourself, your scales appear unscaved and need I say.. pristeen even. I can tell you are no pet; you appreciate your freedom and the wild still beats inside of you. This tells me that you have more going on with you than meets the eye.," he then began to say getting cut off by Risar. "You seem to know a lot about my kind.," the Minotaur noted. "Well-- let's just say that I am curious about certain exotic metals and that your kind often 'processes' one of the most unique and valuable metals out there. I am referring of course to your--," the man began to say again. "I believe we came here to discuss a deal and not what cannot be changed.," Risar interrupted keeping 'calm' but with rising tension. An Minotaur's nose ring or occasionally sometimes lack thereof was not something usually dwelled upon.

“M-my wings and legs.” The bird said. As Raclaw approached he could see deep lacerations and wounds indicating he was in a trap before freeing himself. Other wounds were made by arrows.

Meanwhile
“I take pride in my kind. Let’s just say I keep my scales well cleaned.” Icestorm said.
