Buying my one roommate Miitopia has single-handedly been the best thing I've done for this apartment. Thinking of multiple accounts, I don't think I've ever seen anyone change a prefectly usable account to a new one for any truly positive reason. Moreover, I've always seen a conscious change of identity as this remotely shameful choice to make, regardless of the reasoning behind it. I can't imagine I'm alone in this.

It's interesting to think why it should be shameful, though. It's not as if the person themself has changed as a result, but I can't help feeling like someone who is willing to forsake their previous identity in some sense must also lack respect for who they are, even if it's just about their online appearance or identification.

To an extent I can understand changing names, as long as it's not a choice made lightly. It's mostly the attempt at dumping the "old you" that makes me judge people this way.
