I honestly can't understand the appeal of breathing in anything that isn't air.

Overall I'm pro-vaping because it finally got my parents to quit after 40+ years of smoking. Probably extended their lives by a decade or two.

That being said, it hasn't been around long enough for much research to be done on the long-term health effects. I'm sure it isn't exactly healthy, but without tar or tobacco, it has to be better than real smoking.

A couple things I learned in my health program from the speaker who researched it, it's not actually better than the real thing:

-The containers that hold it in are not lined properly like you would see in asthma containers, therefore you're being exposed to above-OSHA levels of formaldehyde hemiacetals, a type of formaldehyde that goes into your lungs even deeper than gaseous formaldehyde.

-What turns the liquid into vapor exposes it to heavy metals, making you inhale these as well. Other metals are found in the liquid even before exposure to the coil that converts it into vapor

-Chemicals in the vape pop alveolar sacs (the little sacs in your lungs that actually bring oxygen into your blood / take carbon dioxide out of your blood). Popped alveoli can never recover, and it will mess with how you breathe.

-The vapes that DO have nicotine: One pod of vape is the equivalent of an entire pack of cigarettes
